Will do, I will upgrade both to V2.1 tonight and then play with the settings at the field on Sat. One very cool thing that I'm excited to test is the Pirouette Optimum Adjustment enable switch that the software has. I hope this helps the forward flight pirouette features.

Firmware update was easly. The controller retains all the prior settings so its a simple upgrade. I will do some test flights in the morning.

The 3G connectors are really a pain in the butt. They are hard to remove and can be easily damaged. The first heli was no problem but the second had an intermittent connector after the upgrade. I was very careful and only pulled on the body of the connectors each time but one pin pushed out when I reconnected the controller. The ground socket was loose and was not making good contact which caused the 3G system to reset.

I saw the results of this wile at the Vegas fun fly this year when a guy with a new 700 smacked it in into the runway when the 3G reset.

The weak link is the female connector retainer it is very small and any mis-alignment will push out the socket. I modified all my connectors as insurance. I pulled back the rubber boots and glued each wire into the connector. Problems solved.

Anyone flying the 3G should do this since the connectors are so weak.

Ok, the result from he first morning of flying with the V2.1 firmware are in:

TREX 700: All I can say is WOW, the upgrade did wonders from taking a major disappointing 3G unit into the real world. The heli flys great. Bounce is 100% fixed, wonder during pirouetting is 100% fixed. Its just fantastic!!!!! The upgrade is a 100% must have.

TREX 600: Before the upgrade it flew great but tended to wonder around during piros, after the upgrade it is much better but not as much as a mind blowing change as the 700. The forward flight pirouetting is just amazing now. Worth upgrading to.

Oh forgot to mention I flew the receiver packs down to where the tail normally kicks and never had it happen with the V2.1. Looks like this is solved as well.

Great Job Align.

Now fix the $*&^$*$&* connectors which totally suck. I expect to see rants about the 3Gs resetting during flight and causing major crashes since so many people will upgrade and the connectors are total junk.

Sterling500. Thanks for the heads up on the connector issue. Just wondering did you just use CA to glue the pins in? Mine will be here Tuesday. Did you glue the harness that goes from the 3G unit to the sensor or just the Y harness that comes with the software. Thanks Chuck.

For my connectors I glued all of the wires for both helis and the y harness. I waited for the glue to dry completely before inserting the connectors of course

I left all the settings at default. So far I have not had to modify any of the settings

One thing that I found out last night: If you upgrade and after if you go into setup mode you will need to re-do the head REV settings. I upgraded mine and didn't go into the setup, it worked fine. Once I went into setup, the E and A were reversed and had to be corrected. Both units did this, not sure why but just re-do the setup and all is well.

Sterling500,

After the upgrade how were your gain settings? Were you able to increase them with the bobble gone away? Just curious. My USB is on the way and can't wait to get rid of the remaining bobble. Thanks for all the info so far!

On my 700 before the upgrade I was on A=20 and E-10. Any higher it would auto crack for me on hard maneuvers. After the upgrade I'm at A-45 and E-45. This is as it reads on the knobs. The software reports the settings as 0-120 so it says I'm higher on the software screen.

Bobble is totally gone on the 700 and 600. The 700 fly's so good now, I'm very happy.

It looks like the software gains are for major adjustments and the pots are for minor. I left the software at default and just had to turn the pots down slightly. The 100 vs 120 was in reference to the label on the pots range from 0-100 while the software readback for pot position is 0-120. Not sure why.

Here is a pic of the connector. I just pulled back the boot and glued the wires in place.
