No idea what you are taking about, the "form & function" certainly works for me.

My feeling is this particular layout is the best out there. It's not like all the rest of the "canned" programs that are out there and it is VERY EASY to navigate and post pictures, vids and such. Maybe some of the computer software gurus could find ways to improve it but all in all there is a reason so many people gravitate to Runryder.com and I believe the form and function plays a large role in the success of this site. If folks didn't like the program they would have left a long time ago. Lord knows it's not Mark's magnetic personality that's keeping them here!

I'll bite.

What on earth do you find difficult to navigate? I frequent most all of the major web forums. There's certainly nothing difficult about this one.

Ben, It is not difficult merely different.

I believe the op simply desires a more familiar ( standard )interface.

Same here. RR has the features and functionality to show me everything I want to see and nothing I don't.
I really love how I can show all new posts in threads excluding classifieds, off-topics and news/politics.

And, if I want to see all the new classified posts it's just one click away.

RR is the best forum (functionally) IMHO.

I agree. I hate Vbulletin, it's just that everybody uses it so it's familiar. I much prefer the RR format to any other message board design.

What do you find hard about it? I generally think it easier than the others.

What makes this forum so good IS the layout. Almost every hobby shop I want to do business with is on the front page and in a nice tidy place on the front page. Every brand of heli and section has it's own section and the member galleries and etc is so far above all the "canned" vbulletin software it isn't even funny. Mark created this website you are the 1% that doesn't like it.

RR is the easiest to navigate forum there is to me. Everything else looks the same almost because almost all of them are running some form of vbulletin software.

Interface design encompasses a myriad of objectives. Without delving into the minutia of interface design (often referred to as Usability) one must consider these constructs when evaluating the recommendations from human-computer interface design research directly to web design.

1. Recognize Diversity
o make your main navigation area fast loading for repeat users
o provide a detailed explanation of your topics, symbols, and navigation options for new users
o provide a text index for quick access to all pages of the site
o ensure your pages are readable in many formats, to accommodate users who are blind or deaf, users with old versions of browsers, lynx users, users on slow modems or those with graphics turned off

2. Strive for consistency in:
o menus
o help screens
o color
o layout
o capitalization
o fonts
o sequences of actions

3. Offer informative feedback - rollover buttons, sounds when clicked

4. Build in error prevention in online forms

5. Give users control as much as possible

6. Reduce short term memory load by providing menus, buttons or icons. If you use icons, make sure you have a section which explains what they mean. Make things obvious by using constraints - grayed out items in menus for options not available in that page

7. Make use of web conventions such as underlined links, color change in links for visited pages, common terminology

8. Provide a conceptual model of your site using a site map or an index

With this said, you can make your own determination of the usability of this website.

Ive given some other places "The good ole collage try". I have no objections to any of them. In terms of post count and time spent RR has both categories by over 100:1
I agree with Futura SE, RR's home page is my resource page for my Heli needs. I have enough "favorites" saved but very few Heli vendor favorites saved. Click on RR, click on whatever vendor is next in line..............
I dont know how many times I have received very near real time help and problems solved here.
Many

I think RR is very easy to use and navigate. I'm all for a pic avatar
