in case the 550 stock motor gets blistering hot like the one in the 770e (so hot you can't touch it), which scorpion would be the best replacement or does anyone know yet?

Im guessing if it uses the same stock motor as the 600e it would be the same scorpion as the 600, It does raise an interesting question though, would a higher kv motor be better with a smaller bladed heli?

It would come down to what size the main gear is in relation to how much headspead on a 550 (being you want it faster than a 600) and how that equates to what the smallest or largest tooth pinion you could use, if its the same gear size as the 600 that will make it easier to figure out.

With the correct pinion 6s 600`s seem to be with 890 kv motors all the way to 1750 kv motors wich is quite a big range, I know other 550`s use as low a kv as 980 but not sure what main gear size.

I used a 980kv on a 500e with a really big pinion and it seemed OK.

the 550 main gear is the same as the 600. 170 tooth.

the 1600kv scorpion i had in my 500 made it a rocket ship.

i would want the same from the 550 scorpion motor if possible.

Then if same you would want a 1100kv, like the 4020-1100 motor or such, what is the motor opening width/distance?
