So I had a crash the other day (no big surprise) But I decided to take the opportunity while the heli was torn down to put in an OS55!!! So I am ready to drop in the new engine and the excitement is building while I sit in my living room waiting on the big brown truck with my package from Ron's. Waiting, waiting, waiting HOLY COW where is this guy?!? It's Nearly nine o'clock and then finally the door bell rings. IT's MY MOTOR! Full of promise for power exceeding my imagination and pulling my little 600 around like it's connected to a really big bungie cord in the sky!

I immediately head into the man cave to install this new marvel. I open it up, look inside the crank case and the cylinder. Yup, it's an engine! Allright, here we go. I had forgotten to take the fan, hub and fan shroud off of the old motor so that's first. Of course it must all be cleaned to the point of looking fresh out of the box new to aid in the appeal of the new powerplant. This takes a bit of time. I continue working like a safecracker in fort knox! and finally,

tadaaaaaaaa, there it is, done, installed, ready to fl...

What's this on my bench under the dirty paper towels, cigarette packs and wrenches? OH NO!!! All of that and there on my bench is the CLUTCH!!! I had installed the hub and fan and shroud, just not the clutch!!! *&%^$#% &^*(^%$#$ (&(^^^%#$(%$

I had to just stop and wait till tomorrow for better wrenching weather!

Clutch

Carzan,
Thanks for the story. I am waiting for my new 55 also. Had a piece of ring give way, so I took the opportunity to upgrade. Now I'll make sure all the parts go back where they are supposed to go!

It happens!

Anyone remember the Shuttle ZXX with the one piece fan shroud?

On several occasions I completely installed the motor, muffler, etc. only to realize I forgot to put on the fan shroud. What a pain....

I waited for the doorbell many times with anticipation of a delivery. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning
