Need some help deciding on the Flybar version or the Flybarless of the Trex 500 ESP? 200 dollars separates the kits in price. One without gyro, t/r servo and the 3G kit. How many people out there are flying the G3 and are you having any issues with it? I've heard about some sensor foam issues where the gyro sits leading to some "tail wobble". I have a new Mini G in the box that I can throw on a Flybar 500 and never look back. Or.. Is the Flybarless kit worth the extra 200 bux? I'm used to a laser holding from my GY520 and don't want to deal with trying to work "wobble" out. I want to setup and fly. Not fool with doing test flights trying to reduce issues with a flybarless system. Thoughts would be appreciated.

Ur gonna get a lot of " get a v bar" on here... If u don't want to mess with setting something up don't get flybarless cause any system will require some setup... As for the 3g, some will say yes some say no... You could always sell the 3g and get another system

The 3G works great on my ESP. It is still V 1 and I have had no issues with. I just had to lower the gain pots to about 9:30 give or take. I just heard that the software update will ship tomorrow to the hobby shop I work at. I am very curious to see what it will do. Chuck

I have 3 3G units very small issues with the v1 but no problems with v2. How every only reason why i might switch one of the units for skookom 720 is because the bail out switch. Not other reason. I think the align 3G units works greate. Very very smooth.

I don't mind initial set up and then some hovering to work out the gains etc. I'm talking about after that still having issues that can't be worked out. I put this post on the Align Electric forum and wasn't getting any responses, so I hoppped it up here. Keep'm comin. Appreciate it.

On my 500 the tail will wobble about an inch constantly but i still do 3d as hard as i can and it just continues to wobble an inch or soo. It may be because im using the logitec 6100g tail servo but idk. Overall i say go for it, makes the helicopter way more manuverable.

If u don't mind initial setup I would do it cause ur gonna get longer flight time and it flies more stable yet faster

Scratch my post, i was using different mounting tape on mine, it had almost no foam on it, and now i put the align gyro mounting tape on it and the difference is night and day. No drifts or wags what so ever and the stops on the tail arent to shabby either. I would deffinetly support the 3g now, easier to do everthing and its cheap!

3G on the 500 is awesome.
Built 2 500ESP/3G for myself, and 1 for a buddy, plus one converted 500CF. The 3G is perfect on the TREX 500.

Well individual, i herd alot of people talking about how they had to strap it down because the tape allowed it to move too much, so i thought i would just go ahead and use my double sided tape instead so it couldnt move. But yes i probably should have tried teh align first lol....

#G Sensor mounting spot...

I'll have to support the 3G just because it's affordable.

The guys at our club have got no real issues with it, but they also don't know any better.

Anyone knows the best spot to mount the sensor? Manual suggests I should do it on the Rx tray below the boom. I like mounting it on top of the boom gearbox (traditional)

Would the traditional spot be a considerable source of vibration, or would it be fine?

If you have an ESP (TT)the spot above the boom has a considerable amount of vibration compared to the gyro tray below. Take your main blades off, place your hands on that spot and spool it up. You will see that it is pretty significant up there...........Ron

Mounting

Before the lower mounting bracket was available.. I believe most people were attempting to mount it elsewhere due to damage from a crash in the exposed "traditional" mounting spot. As well as vibration from belt drives. 600 sized birds have the t/r servo in the front due to vibration as well. Is there vibration from a torque tube? Definetely, but not anything close to a belt drive. I think they manufactured that mount for a reason. I'd put it there.

I thought I was clever mounting it on top. The idea was to actually see it and get some "bling".

This forums kicks! Thanx all...

There is a BIG difference between the Trex 500 belt drive and the TT. The TT has a lot more vibrations. My buddy was trying to sort his 500/3G issues so we started looking for vibration points. We removed the main blades and spooled it up. it was amazing how much vibration there was. We then removed the tails to make sure they were not the issue.....same problem
Another flying buddy has a Trex 500 belt drive and there is almost no vibration from his rig at all.
I don't think the issues is a TT vs belt, I think the issue is the Align TT in the 500..............Ron
