Ok I need help with this.My friend wants me to add this fuselage to his heli and add the 3 blade head.He has DS821s in it now and I told him he would have to replace them.I need suggestions on servos for him to use and what would be the best and easiest flybarless system to use.I've got an article in RC Heli mag that shows how to set up the head and I believe I can do that without much problem.I know the kit is not made for the 600 but I believe it will work. All suggestions appreciated.

Servo's

You are correct in not using the 821's for this application.... you woule be much better off with a more accurate, and faster servo.... something on the order of the 9252 servos work nicely... that is what I have in mine.... and they are not very expensive any more since there are bigger and better out there now!!!!!
And as for the article about the 4 blade head set up in the magazine.... I have read it and disagree totally with the set up info that they printed.... they are calling for 0 at center and 10/-10 for overall travel... that would be needed only if you fully intend to 3D the heck out of you machine... and I am pretty sure that you were not planning that!!!!
The settings that I use on mine are: -2 low, +5 (=/-) center, and 8-10 high...... this way you will have some room to "fly" the head between half stick and full instead of trying to get any type of smooth transition between 3/4 stick and full..... but his is my own opinion and the way that ALL OF MY Multi Heads are set up and if you would like to see them fly, take a look at the IRCHA scale videos from last year....
As far as the stabilaztion, I have a SK360 on the AS350 now an it works well... but there are others... I am thinking of trying the new Align unit (3G) but the phasing would need to be set manually since it does not have a set up feature for that....
Well, hope this info will help you out.... and if you choose to use it and need further info, please feel free to PM me at any time... Good Luck, Stan

I've just finished (well nearly finished ) and AS350 with TRex600E and three blade head.

I agree with Doorman... the DS821s are not suitable for heli use, IMHO. I used the new Align Servos; DS610 on the swash, and a DS620 on the tail, working great so far. I'm using an SK360 for stabilization. The only change I will probably make at some point is to move the servo arm balls in closer to increase resolution, as I've had to dial the swash mix way back for scale flying.

Also agree with Doorman on the pitch setup. -4 on the bottom, +5 in the middle, and +10-12 on top to start, then dial the pitch curve for smooth flying with your desired headspeed. BTW, I'm running 1650HS with 600mm blades. I'm currently running cheapo 3D carbons, as I couldn't find any scale blades in stock when I needed them. Heavier blades will make it fly smoother if you can get them....

Mixed Up Their Notes!!!!

Hi Emile, and yes that is what was listed on the set up....I am sure that thier notes got a bit messed up when they printed that one!!! I am glad to see them begining to add some articles on scale though... and by now I am sure that someone has let them know that those settings might work, but most likely not too well....

Rodan, that is a NICE looking heli.....
I have a flying buddy that has been using the Align servos, and has also had very good luck with them.... accurate, fast, and won't break the bank.... not at all bad!!!!!

Good Luck with your first multi... Stan

Any recommendations on what flybarless system that would be the easiest to set up and maintain for the heli.I won't be able to do anything but help him over the phone when he gets it back since I no longer live close enough to drive over whenever there is a problem.

First.....

First, let me correct my above post... after going back and re-reading the article, it said 0 mid and 8 and 8.... but then it went on to tell you to mod the pitch curve to -4, 5, 8 later in the article.... which would make it flyable....guess I was the one that mixed up some notes.... not sure where I read the 10/10...oh well,,,, us old guys!!!

I am using the same set up as Rodan... the SK360.... once set up, it is pretty much leave it alone..... so that may be a good system for your heli... but there are so many of them out there now, it is hard to say....

I was actually thinking of installing an Align 3G on my mine to see how it would work out.... as long as you have the phasing correct, it could work out pretty well and you do not need a separate tail servo.. but that project has been benched for a little while.....

Good Luck, Stan

Hi doorman, could you bring your SK360 setup; I trying to fly my Trex600 3-blade head with a SK360, but I can't, something is wrong because after fwe second on air, my helicopter fligth very bad and is too dificult to stabilize the hover.

I use a Futaba S3152 on swashplate.
