hit a peak reading of 5331 watts feb 2011

disclaimer: these are strcitly esc data log figures which do not take into account losses from electrical and mechanical created variables.

ultimately installed kde/neu 550e motor with cc ice 100/cc probec.

power is up to 6.5 hp. see attached data log chart from esc log:

it is but the canopy mounting is a bit tricky. got a horn rubbing on one side.

not overly enthused with the canopy.

turnigy 5000 6s 50c burst 40c constant.

i would like this canopy better. different shape, nice colors. could go witha little more florescent orange and yellow.

i like the polished aluminum parts as well on this one.

Very neat but I don't think I'm gonna run out and get one. It looks to me like a 600 without enough canopy to cover the front.

How much lighter?

What're the longest blades it can swing?

I run my 600 on 8s-4000 and its not much, if any, heavier than a 6s-5000 bird. Not to mention it autos like a feather with the 600mm blades.

This heli has much more oomph than the 600. The collective/cyclic response is faster than even a 10S 600.

If you like to fly smooth, large graceful maneuvers, the 600 would be good. But for fast in your face 3D, the 550 is the bird.

It looks to me lke a Scorpion 4025 will fit, wonder if the frames will need cutting like the 600. Although I dont see why the the stock motor wont be plenty good enough with a 550.

The price of the kit seems quite steep here where I live at the moment, I hope it comes down in price a bit, I havent seen a flybar kit available here yet so hopefuly that will be a bit less.

the reason i ask about the 550 stock motor is that the 700e stock motor gets blistering hot to the point that you cannot touch it at all.

Well 550 is done and I put the beat down on it all I can say is if you had a 500 and a 600 its the same ole align except now I have another heli and have to wait for parts to circulate

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

got out and actually flew mine today and let'er rip.

it flys great. flew flybarred until now. i like it. it does feel like the sim. locks in and holds real good.

still have a vibe in the tail fin like everyone else. that is a head scratcher but i am very pleased with the machine and the fbl system.

one thing i have yet to overcome is the slow pirouette rate on the tail with travels at 150 and 150. i suspect i may cure that once i get the software cord.

any ideas?

and btw, there is a new 550 canopy on the assurance site. looks real good but i like some orange and yellow for better visibility but i do like it.

the kit canopy is warped and has a less than ideal fit but it works.

the motor and esc gets a bit warm but they will probably get replaced down the road.

overall i will give it an A minus.

it is currently 2.1 and head flys fine.
From other posts I have read the firmware is 2.0. After other people have upgraded to V2.1, albeit on other models, they are reporting a good improvement in the way their models now fly.
