I was going to take a pic, but I started disassembling the heli. It has been broke down and awaits parts already. I should have taken some pics. Have to call Tammies Hobbies to see when they have parts in.

It was my fault. I did not tighten the set screws on the flybar good enough. I was beating the crap out of the heli and the flybar flung to one side with the paddle stopping to from completely coming out. I hit throttle hold from about 30 feet up. It hit on the front of the skids and bottom nose of the canopy. Busted both frames right behind the front landing gear. The long side of the flybar allowed the paddle to hit the boom, putting a dent in it. It did no damage to any blades.

Total:
Both frames
1 landing gear
Canopy
Boom
Flybar

So, I went a head and called my buddy who is making these carbon fiber frames. They are gorgeous. He has more pics in his gallery here. https://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/gallery/83447/

After the crash I got the N9 out and beat the snot out of it. Had to get back on the horse. I was real nervous but it worked.

It's all good.

Wow!

Frames must be fairly weak considering there's not much other damage.
That's not good!

I don't think they are.

The helicopter basically free fell for about 10 to 12 feet and hit directly on the tip on the front of the skids and nose of the canopy. I would think that this would have done the same damage to most heli's. It basically put all of the weight on the front landing gear mounting brackets and the canopy mounts. This is all in one area that took all of the damage.

I think it fared very well for what could have happened.

$185 to US customers - liked the look of them but not at that price, £125 plus postage to the UK, too much.

WOW, he is proud of those frames. That is absolutely crazy for a set of frames. Dude, I would go back with G-10 twice before I would spend 185.00 on an after market frame set.

I don't think he is over priced. He has priced himself just as everyone else is in the market but with far better and lighter material.

Here

JR Vibe 50 $199.00: http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=254125
Quick UK Synergy $161.00 plus shipping from over seas: http://www.quickuk.eu/cat/synergy/n-9.html
FBH Synergy $193.00 http://tylerbonta.com/page3
Synergy Frames $370.00 : http://www.experiencerc.com/store/p...roducts_id=1073

I could have just replaced the G10. I figured why not step up now. I have been running the Synergy carbon fiber frames for about a year and a half. They where expensive, but gave me the performance I wanted.

I agree this is not for everyone, but I like upgrades that perform. This is also the first time I have seen true structural carbon fiber used.

He gave my a piece to try to break. It was 4 inches long by 1/2 tall by 2.4 mm thick. I could not break it with every thing I had. Several people tried out at the field. It was funny to watch. You would think it would snap like a twig. It wouldn't even bend.

I took some pics of the frame weights before I started the rebuild. Have my parts on order with Mikes RC. Hopefully I will see parts next week before our first big FF.

Just thought you might want to see.

The frames look nice but I assume the market is limited for $200 carbon frames on a 50. Just a suggestion to your friend...I would consider making frame doublers for the front area. When I built mine I immediately saw that area as a weak spot. I think he would sell far more doublers/frame savers at say $20/pr than full carbon frames.
