Anyone else out there think this is a great idea but poorly implemented? It has been seen to be more of a lottery than a well roled out scheme.

Surely another take would have been to give all existing vbar owners the option during a period to order a unit or quota and then wait to arrive.

A friend of mine called a UK stockist for vbar standard to be told that the quota amount had been sold but he could have one at full price. So it appears during the offer they were taken off sale.

Now I understand that retailers don't have to sell a product but hardly seems a good idea to let that on.

As I say great idea and worked fir a lot of people but how many missed out, things like work etc can get in the way of checking retailers every 30 mins.

I found it frustrating that I missed the first two shipments that went to ReadyHeli. I think they should have limited the amount people bought to give all LOYAL Mikado customers a chance to own a Vbar. I was stuck at work and couldn't get to a computer both times the last shipments came in and it will be my guess that it will happen on the last shipment too. The worst part is after these guys got the Vbars for $269 they were selling the older versions for more....not everyone was doing it but what a slap in the face. I guess I could be a bum and sit home by the computer waiting for the stock to come in and make sure I buy my Vbar. Maybe I will buy 5 of them and then when they are all sold out sell them for $100 more and get mine for FREE?

Frustrating

I talked to ready heli about this same thing, they needed to limit to one per costomer not give people three at a time. Sweet idea just poor planning on mikado's part, been trying to get one also with no luck.

HEY... why are you calling people bums for having access to a computer all time ?
Just because you are frustrated it does not warrant that kind of attitude !Its their business and they can run it anyway they want.

And just to make it clear, I do not own a vbar, do not spend all day on the computer AND I think that this program was a slap on the face for people that do not already own one. They clearly discriminated us.

Why should only people that own vbars should get this price ? Just because they bought one in the past does not make them LOYAL !

Anyway those were my points , I just read the thread and it just kinda "hit" me as I read your comment. Nothing personal...

i agree with you guys there should be a limit of 1 per costumer and we should be able to preorder one, becuase like you said between work and other obligations it's always out of stock, who knows maybe they never even had them in stock,
good luck tomorrow, and of course i have to work all day and don't have access to a computer at work, this really sucks.

thats true, i bought a v-bar before so i qualify for the loyalty discount yet i dont own anything thats mikado anymore so i dont think im loyal to them yet i get the discount

they should have taken preorders so they knew how many people were interested, but on the other side they could have done nothing either so at least some people got discounts lol... but i know one thing, if i had bought a v-bar the day before this went on i would have been mad since they clearly stated that wouldn't b in there...

maj and especially Raydee, my sentiments exactly almost word for word!

I had contacted (emailed) R/H a week or so ago, and they said this was
a Mikado based event, not Readys. Said they could not limit quantities
again, mostly because it was out of their hands....it did say on R/Hs
site, no pre-orders, to be fair to everyone. Well, w. no limit on units, that is also not doing it fairly IMO. 2, maybe 3 max per customer would be fair, again, IMO. It would allow many more a chance
at these, and these prices.

I will also try again this week, but don't think I stand much chance
against all that will be hovering over their 'puter, w. their fingers
ready to 'push' the trigger.

I was a "bum" that got one of the earlier VBARS. I knew it was coming, I made arrangements to get one.....simple as that. I missed on the second shipment but I won't miss on this one.
As to loyalty, they wanted to reward people who have purchased Mikado products before hence the "Mikado Customer Loyalty Program". When Skookom, Align, or others get involved, be ready
The point o\of the promotion IMO was to flood the market with the units so other competitors would have to follow suit or move out of the way.
I was one of the guys who sold my older VBARs when I got the new ones. That gave a great deal to someone who can't buy a new one @ $269 the opportunity to own a VBAR for approximately the same price. That way they save $210 So how is that bad???
You complain that VBARS are expensive so Mikado makes them cheap and you complain because they did not basically hand deliver one to you Either make arrangements (have someone who can watch the computer buy one for you) or live with the fact that you missed one of the great deals in our hobby...........Ron

It also says on the page that this shipment will be the last one for the promotion. That shipment is supposed to arrive the first week in June.

I don't qualify myself which is no biggie... But what really irritates me is that they don't even keep a few in stock for their combo deals. I went to order a Logo 600/vbar combo right after the loyalty program started and they sold all the Vbars so I couldn't even buy a combo.

So I moved on and went with a different heli!

I don't crash... I land with style

I emailed Mikado and told them I was very frustrated with the promo.
I couldn't even get one at full price since they were sold out world wide.
I said I would never consider one of their products in the future and their PR guy returned my email.

He said they were honored that I was so disappointed not to get one that I would never consider anything from them again.

He said they must have a wonderful product for people to be so upset.

I told him I didn't know if the product was worth a sh!t or not and I'm not even interested in finding out

I went with the 3G V2.Seems fine to me and even came with a rotor head for $309 for my 500.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Well I'm sorry but after trying the V-bar and the 3G, I sold all my 3G and went with the real thing, V-bar. I was fortunate to already own two and was able to order two more during this promotion. If they didn't have this loyalty program I probably would not have changed my 450 and 500 over to v-bar. Therefore I am one very happy camper. Call me all the names you want but this was something great for me.

I am a big Mikado fan, to me my Logo 500 is the best flying heli I have ever owned. I had a Skookum 360 on it last year and thought to myself that while it flew pretty good I might be missing out not having a Vbar. I sold the Skookum to buy a Vbar but they were out of stock and by the time they were back in stock my flying season was over. My Logo has been sitting on the bench since then with no gyro, receiver or flybarless electronics. I have been watching the foe sale threads for one at a good price. When this promo came up I was real excited but I never expected them to sell out that fast. I figured that for the price they were selling for they must have 1000 or more units in stock and I would have no problem getting one. WRONG.

That's because the 10,000 or so units were distributed among about 1,500 "loyal" customers.lol...

I bought a Walkera heli a few years ago.
By Mikados definition, that makes me a loyal Walkera customer.Right

I literally never use the word literally right.

My thread wasn't intended to turn in to bums or question the product as anyone who has used it knows it is great.

Just the implementation of a very good idea.

When a batch arrives and there is only 14 and sold in 20 minutes it would appear to be slightly disingenuous.

I'm sure there is more to come. The product in the public eye has been devalued although I feel the UK offer price at £211 was too cheap. If the price settled around £249/£269 then those who would buy a vbar will do. There will always be the crowd who won't buy it and it's good there is choice.

What makes you think there were only 14 vbars in a order? When I contacted RH I was given the impression that HUNDREDS were already sold. Also, to the people that are mad because they aren't in front of a computer all day...if you want one that bad there is an invention called a telephone. Most people now have cell phones. RH has a phone too

Copy from RH's site:

*UPDATE:

- Customer Loyalty MIK4010 Standard V-Bars will be put into stock at exactly 3pm US Eastern time today, June 1st.

- This is the final set of Customer Loyalty V-Bars.

- Normal pricing resumes as soon as the last Customer Loyalty V-Bar is sold.

- There will be normal V-Bars in stock immediately upon the end of this promotion. They do not qualify, at all, for the discounted price.

I'm in the UK.

It's a great idea to post the time they go on sale. Gives everyone a sporting chance. Over here they just went on sale and gone in 20 mins which isn't surprising given only 14 full size units. Even given the technological advances such as a phone its not much of an offer, more a marketing gimmick.

I don't understand people getting mad about it. Like helicopters people post their thoughts and things seem to improve. Just the same here, good idea, could it have been implemented better, of course it could.
