i am having a major problem with vibration with my pred. gasser. i have about 65 hours in running the problem down with no luck. i was at the field this weekend running the heli and trying to find the cause of the vibration. i was flying around for about 8 min and i heard the muffler coming loose so i brought it in and landed. the vibration in the machine is loosening the muffler and braking bolts. i adjusted the bearing blocks in the bell housing and got ready to start my heli again for another flight. i switched the battery on and nothing. i cycled the switch and still nothing. i had just charged up the battery just before coming to the field. i checked the voltage and it was dead. i thought the vibration killed the switch so i unhooked the battery from the switch and checked the battery. still dead. i put another battery to the switch and the helicopter electronics came to life. i was done flying for the day. when i got home i took the covering off the rec. battery and found that one of the metal tabs connecting two batteries was broke and the hot wire cut from a zip tie. so at some point while flying my battery quit working. the good news the jewel charger did what it was suppose to, priceless.

Hi,

There have been several Preddys with bad pinions. If you were to have the clutch bell out with the pinion and spin it you would see that the top of the pinion outlines an egg shaped orbit instead of spinning centered. Several recent Preddys had this problem. I was lucky enough to catch mine during the build. I sent it to Paul at Century he checked it an said the pinion was not machined true. He replaced the pinion and sent it back to me in perfect running order. If I had run mine the way it was originally it would have destroyed the frames it was so out of true.

Just one thing to check. Good luck tracking this down.

Best regards,

Tom

Raja makes life saver with the Jewel. I forgot to turn on my heli one day and cranked it up and everything worked fine so i flew it for about 15 mins and landed. I hit thr cut and shut it down and when i went to cut of the power it was off,i had flown the whole time on the Jewel. I think thats the next best thing to 2.4ghz. Sorry about you vib i'm going thru the same problem. Good Luck.

Thanks

Hi,

Mine was a brand new Preddy kit and I dial indicated the hub and it was fine. Dial indicating the usual build items didn't reveal this issue. Century has had issues with quality control of some of their pinions. If you remove the four screws from the top bearing block of the pinion and spin you main gear so it spins the pinion you may see the top bearing block rocking back and forth in the frames. This would indicate a bad pinion. You can check it by removing just the top four screws in the pinion bearing block.

Best of luck tracking this down,

Tom

So happy to hear it saved you

the good news the jewel charger did what it was suppose to, priceless.
Not sure what your issue is with the vibes, but if you come to MHA this coming weekend I'll be glad to look over your helicopter and see what I can sort out for you. Shouldn't be that far for Virginia, I'm coming all the way from MA so you're probably closer.
