Man after holding a TREX 550 flybarless it basically spanks the swift in every way. Every thing went together smooth and quickly. No mysteries, no special build considerations nothing. Just follow the manual and youll be done in about 2 hours

But so you guys know the swift is in one piece and looks pretty nice. I just hope that even after all the stuff I went through this thing holds together well and doesnt get loose quickly.

Align electronics.... EEK!! If they would sell without electronics, I would consider one.

The Align guys make one heck of an airframe. Look at my gallery, does it look like I use align electronics in my TREX 600 E

Agreed they should sell the kits w/o electronics BUT at the same time they do their fellow country men a favor and force us to eat their electronics.... Its cool to see that they spread the wealth around.

But I do have to admit the ALL the align stuff is definitally good enough for a good portion of the heli community. It definitally holds up to abuse. Is it the most refined...no but its good enough. Id definitally rather the align electronics than good electronics in a swift

To replace the side frames on a Trex 550 is 118 bucks. Ridiculous in my world. Align pricing just keeps going up and up.

Yeah its getting more expensive thats for sure but the quality is starting to match. Id rather pay a slighly higher fee than have to sand, dremel, drill things on the swift.

Regardless I have this thing ready to fly. I spooled it up with no blades and I did notice a little vibe but I think its from the belt rubbing the boom as its a little narrow. Ill lube it up a bit and hopefully that helps.

Again it looks good but to get it there was a bad experience. I do look forward to flying it though...

Carlo the Swift is VERY sensitive to tracking as well. So if it is off a little, the heli will shake on spool up and down. Other than that you should be good.........Ron

We shouldn't confuse "packaging quality problems" with "overall quality problems", the later including design, manufacturing, materials, ...

In my opinion (and experience) Century has good quality products (given the price range), but has packaging problems (missing parts, wrong parts).

This is what explains so many people (like me and some others around here) have a "somewhat poor" build experience (missing/wrong parts, packaging quality problems) but are after pleased with the model (good desing and manufacturing quality).

My 620SE build experience was mild because of packaging problems (missing parts, wrong parts, have to wait to receive, exchanging emails, ...). Of course, as we've all noted, Century gets it fixed for free (and even more, good CRM quality). Now the heli's flying great.

Whatever, let's not be imprecise/unfair by confusing "packaging quality problems" with "overall quality problems". For me the overall quality is fine (relative to pricing) and the packaging quality clearly needs improving (and Century really should take this seriously, as people do get annoyed at some point and can turn away). I've got a new HawkPro on the way, I'll see if that comes complete.

well after flying the swift for about 10 flights I have stopped
the swash now has alot play in it. same for most of the head parts
got a strange vibe as well now wtf

maybe I'll throw a raven swash on it or just sell it
very depressing to have finaly got it together
to be stopped by parts wearing out so soon and I don't even do 3d

I'll stick with my Raven for now and I will certainly be trying something different next season for sure.

anybody wanna buy a slightly used well cared for 550
comes with lots and lots of spares enough for 2 birds
includes parts to stretch it to a 620 minus tail boom

willing to sell all minus electronics
600$ CDN

will take and post pics if anyone interested

I've also noticed that slop appears quite fast in Century swash plates (my 620SE full meatal swash and my Hawk metal/plastic composte swash), maybe faster than other equivalent machines, maybe there's something to do with grease/oil to use on them (I can't remember if I put grease at all).

BUT, although this slop looks quite significative, it doesn't generate much slop in the head or in the actual commands. My Hawk (8 years of intensive flying) had quite some slop in the swashplate, but the commands were still precise (and I do some "light" 3D).

Besides the vibration you're getting (maybe something's gone out of balance or something's got bent?), do you have other issues with it?

it is near impossible to check belt tension and just as hard to adjust the belt.

canopy is also difficult to put on I cracked the thin fg canopy then I bought the plastic canopy so now my nice canopy sits on a shelf

the 550 sure ain't worth it ( time or money )

from my experience

Hello

I flew it finally....

Its still alive too and actually flew pretty nice. The tail is still not a great setup since its still tight. I need to figure out a way to loosen it up so the tail servo can work easier.

I also want to change all the links because the century ones look very fragile.
