[Improper voltage == has to drop to 3.5 volts or lower. At 3.5 volts on a 4.8 volt pack, you're flying on borrowed time. It was dead a half volt ago.]

Yeah, but if you have a marginal cell and you spike it with a large input (servo, gyro, etc.) that voltage can momentarily drop and the rx WILL brown out.. Ask me how I know..... data logging=the best!!

And I agree 7.4 lipos regulated to 6v.. best power for rx. I run a minimum of 3600mils

^ +1 on that. Running all digital servos and other modern electronics can and has (for me) caused brown out with 4.8v. After the crash the batt. reads fine but spikes can cause problems, and I say again, Spektrum says don't use 4.8v.

The 401 is rated at 6v,but the 9253,9254 is only rated at 4.8v.I run 5.1 regulators with 2 lipo cells.Still gives you headroom.Have never had a so called brownout on my spectrum even with 4.8 nimh's
Bought the Spectrum as soon as it came out,few years now.

i wish all the radio components would be the same voltage requirements, that would make life so less complicated. i hate the use of all these regulators and such.

I agree Emile. Maybe the manufacturers will work towards that in the future. But they gotta sell those regulators too.

Yeah
Jr brought out servos that connect directly to a 2 cell lipo, but you still need a regulator for the tail.
Copter doctor,if you haven't run the lipos before, you will love them.
They are so much easier to move around in a fuselage, and seem to hold a charge forever.

hey Emile, all I can think about now is you flying my E-Raptor like crazy at Larry's...
You've done too much work on my heli to get it flying great so I guess I need to change from 4.8 volts also huh??

BTW, the EC looks super and I can imagine how good it will look when completed.

I think its funny how the JR/Spektrum says not to use 7.4 lipo yet the 4.8 packs can be a problem.

7.4v would be too much as 6v is max.. and lipo, or any kind of battery, really doesn't make a difference..it's the total voltage.
I use A123's on my planks.. but because of weight I prefer the lipos on the heli's. Of course all are regulated.
