Sounds like another happy customer! KevinB ..

The power is crazy.. 16 degrees.. lol!

Max speed with the 13t and no load with my setup would be over 3900.. But I run the Ice governor at 3400.

40A is plenty. The higher voltage the lower amp draw you will get for the same power output. If you look at the flight logs from NQNA on page 2 of this thread then you will see that the peak amp draw is less than 30 amps and he is drawing a lot of power.

Many guys are using the Castle Creation Phoenix ICE 50 since it has logging capabilities as well as a switching BEC that can supply 5A.

What ChristianM said

The jazz40 amp has a switching BEC also but a 3amp. I haven't had any issues with it not being able to keep up with 3 HS5065MGs and a 9257 on the tail.
Just in case you're not aware, the Jazz40 is slightly more than twice the price of a CC Ice50. Supposedly they are a very efficient controller...even at reduced power settings. Once I get my setup where I want it, I'll post some power curves from my Eagletree to see if it's worth the extra cost. The governor on it works awesome.

I think you need a Castle link cable for the ICE line still right? If you don't have that already then it is another £20 in the UK. So you are only £20 away from a Jazz 40.

I think you would only run an extenal BEC with the Jazz if you were goung FBL, otherwise internal BEC is fine.

The in flight monitoring of the ICE range is nice, but I have an Eagletree that I've used a couple of times during initial setup and once confirmed everything is fine I never put it back on.

I'm FBL (Vbar 5.0 now...was 4.0) with my Jazz40.......no issues.

Maybe the pricing in the UK is a little different. On a quick search I found the Ice50 was $85 US, while the Jazz40 was $180 US.

@KevinB:

How do you like the Vbar on the 450 Pro? Do you use the Align 3G head?

I would say 1100mah is to low.. I generally put about 1050 mah back into my 1300 packs after a 4 min 20 sec flight..

Hi TRex888

I like the Vbar on the 450 Pro. I'm actually using the full sized, not the mini. Makes the heli fly much more solid than stock.

Kevin can you post some pics of how you have that full sized vbar mounted? I'm thinking about taking off the vbar on my 600 as it's too powerful on 12S and keeps stripping gears

High Voltage just works better

I did some more testing with different pinions and found it wasn't the motor speed with a 13T that was causing the vibes.....it was an out of round pinion! With a different 13T it was fine. I've been testing now with 12t, 13t, and 14t. I'll post what works best for me once I get some more data (aka flight time).

The pics below of the full size Vbar mounting was before my 6s mod. I had to modify a USB cable (3rd pic) to make a one with a right angle but with that done, I can connect to either the usb port, or hook up the control panel without having to remove anything.

Oh, and TRex888, I'm using the RJX conversion head kit. I forgot to answer that in my last post. Sorry.

I found them about 3 months ago by chance.
Bought 2 of them.
Yes flight times are shorter, but we all went to 6S for the crazy power.
45 C gives you crazier power.
I have about a dozen 6s batt. and (2) 6s T-450's. I have both scorpion motors, and with the 45c in the higher kv scorpion, I was striping main gears. Had to dial it down.
When you are at the point of striping main gears, you are getting all you can get out of that machine.

Fly with scheduled ground contact !

My reason for going 6s was not for CRAZY power. Just for real good power that is consistent through the whole flight, that doesn't push the batteries to their limits and shorten their life, and that I don't need to buy high-C batteries($$$) to get the power I want.
The purpose of my 450ProFBL is to fly like my Vibe50 so I can practice moves on it first and the timing will translate to the Vibe after I get it down. I don't want my 450 flying like a bumblebee on crack .

After a bit of flying with various ratios, I've settled on a 14T pinion with the gov dialed waaaay back. The Jazz speed controller doesn't mind this ---- efficiency at less than full power is one of it's features. It's just warm after a flight. My headspeed is 3500, and I get that from start to finish. My flights are 5 minutes long(to the timer, then another 15-30 secs to land).

Depending on how hard I'm pushing it, I put between 800-975 mah back in after a flight. If I just fly around for a full flight with no 3d, I only put back 700-750mah. I'm running twin turnigy 1300mah 3s 25c packs and they are just barely warm after the flight. Kontronik Jazz 40-6-18 ESC (use built-in BEC), Scorpion 2010kv motor.
