No I don't believe this. But according to a advertisement I just saw, the manufacturer does.
Designed for 3D Master, this new heli Version 2 is capable of doing ALL 3D maneuver! Piro Flips, Tic Toc’s, Chaos, Funnels, Snakes, just name it! Life has never been so exciting in the blue blue sky! Very good response at all time! The 450 size helicopter is the hottest and most popular toy on the market right now because of its convenient size and performance!
I changed the name of the bird with the word heli. If the message is that helis are not toys, it should start with the manufacturers.

I can regard my rc cars, boats, airplanes, and submarines as toys. The inherent danger of helies excludes them from that category. I started flying with a 60 size bird and instantly new it could kill me. Perhaps with people starting with such small birds nowadays they don't get the full respect of what damage a heli can do. Personally I can't refer to anything as dangerous as a flying lawn mower a toy.

My helicopters serve no practical purpose other than my own amusement , that makes them all toys .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Tis indeed! I loved my gixxer 750 until I wrote it off last August but fancied something a bit different this time (only had ZX9r, R1, Gixxers etc previously).

Back on topic... To me, helis are toys - dangerous toys but toys nonetheless... same with bikes, fast cars etc.

If bikes weren't dangerous, there would be a TOTAL lack of adrenalin, so I wouldn't be riding them......

Same with helis...
The danger/crash factor makes the adrenalin running......

Concentrate on your weaknesses and your strengths will reward you!

Well, I learned a long time ago that if three people tell you that you are sick, then go see a doctor. OK helis are toys. Now I have to come to grips with the fact that I hang around a toy web site.

I'm confident enough in my own masculinity to admit that I play with toys . In fact , just to prove that I'm a man , I'm now off down the pub to drink beer , throw some darts and fart !

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

By definition: TOY-- "something for a child to play with",,,,,,look it up!!

I don't think our helis qualify under this definition.

And for anyone wanting to argue further,,

By definition: CHILD-- "a young person especially between infancy and youth"

And I don't think something that can lop off a finger would be a toy!!

You've just picked one definition of a toy , but it's not the only definition .
Just to make it easy for you to look some of them up :
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/toy

'3.something that serves for or as if for diversion, rather than for serious pratical use.'

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

What about a small kid's (toy) bike? You could stick your fingers in the chain next to a sprocket whilst "cranking" and I'm pretty sure there would be some dangling of finger evident.

I have a lot of respect for the dangers of my toys - they can bite but TO ME, they are still my toys. Let me ask... when you go out with your heli, do you...

A. Play
B. Work

I suspect your answer is A - You play (with your toy(s)).

I think alot of people stress these helis as not being toys just to also stress the safety aspect of the hobby. But these helis would technically be considered toys to the world......And if you think about it, they are. But they are also very dangerous. And thats what needs to be stressed, not whether they are "toys" or not.

If you're playing with them they're toys. Some, however can be considered tools (AP, crop spraying, surveying...)

Taken from Merriam Webster

Main Entry: 1toy
Pronunciation: \ˈtȯi\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English toye
Date: 15th century
1 obsolete a : flirtatious or seductive behavior b : pastime; also : a sportive or amusing act : antic
2 a : something (as a preoccupation) that is paltry or trifling b : a literary or musical trifle or diversion c : trinket, bauble
3 : something for a child to play with
4 : something diminutive; especially : a diminutive animal (as of a small breed or variety)
5 : something that can be toyed with
6 Scottish : a headdress of linen or woolen hanging down over the shoulders and formerly worn by old women of the lower classes

And if I recall are there not a couple young boys under the age of 10 that can are flying helicopters, and much better than myself.

So long and thanks for all the fish!
