there is plenty of reason when said glow engine is a 2.4 cubic inch V-twin 4-stroke.

I have that engine on a 1/4 span sopwith baby biplane with an 80" wing span.

I only use a 16 ounce fuel tank though and I don't fly it that often to save on glow fuel costs .

The only reason I put that engine on there instead of a 26cc gas was because I was desparate to hear that engine in the air!

It sounds like a harley with straight pipes flying by you at 60mph!

I posted a ground running engine test video a ways back along with some pics of it.

I'll try and get a video of it flying.

The best is when I fly it low and at full throttle and bank it so the pipes point directly at the pits! It's pretty loud!

we had two sweet matching x300's (YS 120's)that I built for formation flying for my best bud and I. Those things whipping by on the deck a few feet apart was so cool. 3 bladed props going supersonic......as much as I love heli's, that was just as cool.

I got a vid of a friend of mines zenoah g-80 twin in a 34% edge 540 with smoke he is good enough to do a full speed knifedge down the runway about 6-8ft off the ground.

Noise and smoke that close really makes you smile!!!!

I am hooked on gas I have my 25% 72"wingspan extra 260 with a CRRC GF40i kit engine its a screamer replaced the G-26 I had in it. I am a big fan of the gasser's.

I am picking up a clipped wing taylorcraft from my friend tomorrow for the G-26 gonna put a smoke system on it.

what you need is a http://www.pilot-rc.com 36% Sbach with a 3W 110CS then you can do knife edge all over the field at 80mph or 5mph as close to the ground as you dare.

Ive managed to get 45 degree throws on my MX, hopeing that hovering will be closer to on Pheonix sim with these throws, problem is those throws will be lethal to fly around with, I can hit the idleup switch pretty quikly, but not sure if I will be quik enough when bailing out of a failed hover, it always seems to end up comeing directly towards my head and upside down when my hover goes wrong.

Allthough Im hopeing with more aileron control maybe Il be able to stop it before it spins around faceing the belly of the plane toward me, as soon as the belly is pointing at me I know Im in trouble.

edit: ^ like nearly haveing to take a dive with my dx7 so as not get a prop in the face kind of trouble..

a failed hover ? having more like 50 deg or more is 3D , and when in hover you can never have too much control throw. practise hovers as close to your flight station as possible and enter the hover from a harrier ..

Video - Runaway LT-40!

I shot this video today. This is one of my flying buddies...Brian, flying William's (another flying buddy) Sig Kadet LT-40. The winds were really picking up and there was a strong crosswind, resulting in a rather interesting. Good times! Enjoy.

Ok, here's a plank thread question for y'all:
Is there a place where I can just buy a wing (say for a 40 size trainer) and not the entire kit? I'm working on a project and all I need is the wing, not the fuse. Any help and links to websites would be appreciated.
Regards,

Sweet!!!! buzzsaw that plane is awesome color scheme and I can imagine with a 150 you dont have to wory about control throws to hover.

Kiwi King you will find a wing for a trainer to be expensive the people that sell replacements are big name the one I am thinking of has a wing for $80.

spitfire Sounds like your having more problem managing throttle than control throws.

I dont have any more than 30 degrees on my extra 260 and it hovers with ease but its overpowered 40CC on a 12lb airplane.

Like airboss said go into it slow or a harrier full elevator to get the tail down then its just a little rudder and throttle management is the key. And like I said my extra has plenty of power it can go vertical out of a hover.

Now my underpowered Tribute it hovers great but hovers are much harder cause it barely has the power to hover and it will stall and fall out if your not careful.

That sounds to me like whats happening to you The big plane hovers at 1/2 throttle or less and the little one thats harder hovers 3/4 throttle.

Im realy looking forward to trying with these new throws, I think it was my ailerons that needed more, the rudder and elevator is good, my plane hovers at roughly 1/2 throttle maybe slightly less, kind of give it bursts of about 3/4 to get more control, the power does seem to cut in abruptly at about 3/4, not sure this is normal, its smooth and then all of a sudden you really here a sound difference, could be the prop biteing not sure.

Its a 50 size on 6s and it seems to be about the same at half - 3/4 throttle as the Phoenix sim planes feels on full, just not sure if the delivery of the power is linear enough.
