so reading here and other forums now seen that pilots who have both are saying there are dshortfalls on this align flybarless, some piro optimization and even with align machines bobble on stops and things as this? why as align product would it have problems and not feel good after all was made by align so this worries me and now more obivous good pilots hiding alot in videos and average guy it might be cheap but maybe very limited and in fact more worth it to get a vbar system?\\

i have been dsaving for while now, i do not mind spending 100 more dollars if vbar seems to work good and can be tuned to work well on my 600n as i dont like buying twice or being fooled.\\so can good pilot who is not sponsored by align tell me is this peice of crap and is able tyo update and tuneable? is aligmnm working on making software so i can see this and have more ways to tune other then two dieals? this pyro optimization thing many people on forums mentioning seems a big deal is align working on this to make it better/?

want to know if i buy thhis product the align flybarless if i am waisting my money or not vcause now seems many not liking it, pleaze tell me

thank you

Now that many people have tried the Align 3G system, we are seeing more unbiased reports. Specially some really interesting reads by owners of both vBar and 3G. You should really base your judgement on people who has really flown them side by side. There are always Align bashers who have not even seen a 3G before, and already making claims about how crappy the Align 3G system is.

Lets just say everybody I talked with who has some stick time on the 3G have nothing but positive to say, including me. And these are people I fly with, not just some cheerleaders on forums making empty claims.

If you have somebody at the field with one, try to get some stick time so you can find out yourself.

Let's be fair,
somebody who is used to driving a merc or beemer will not feel at ease in a civic.

You can't get and can't expect a european car for japanese prices.

The align 3G is considerably good for the price, this is a fact.

I'm having major issues with mine, & I haven't even flown it yet. (Luckily!)
Sent a PM to AlignRC, no reply.

I'm currently exchanging emails with Alan Jr but I understand he's very busy.
It would be great if I could speak directly with Align.
I have a guy forwarding emails/info from me but still haven't had a reply from Align themselves.

Very frustrating!

what kind of issue? 3G hardware or setup issues?

Maybe some of us can try to help if you post some details.

The unit seems to work as it should, but all 3 of my cyclic servos have died since hooking it up, (all at different times), & it hasn't even flown yet.

Coincidence? I thought it may have been when the first one died, but not now that I have lost all 3 of them. (JR DS8915, same as 8717)

Not impressed.

HiroboFreak,

Sounds like your unit is a lemon. Is it possible to take it to the shop you purchased from to see if an exchange is possible?

You may save a little buying the unit but there is no where near the support you get from other manufacturers and also it is not as flexible as there is not really much adjustment if any.

I'm all for it but not if QC or support is not there and also if its not comparable to other systems.

I was hoping to try out one of these new 3G's but with all these posts on the 3G between this forum and a few others it sure did make my decision to go Vbar reallly easy. I think it may take align a little bit before they get all the bugs worked out...hopefully not.

Just read posts over at a German forum and it seems that the cracks used to V-Bar and AC-3X all say "no, thank you" after trying the 3G. The arguments: the heli doesn´t fly straight in FFF (pitching up),
bobbles when doing hard stops over elevator, doesn´t have a piro-optimazetion......
For me I´ll stay with the true and trusted and wait to try the new high-end systems as the SK720 that are in the pipeline...

twinpeak,

what cracks do you mean?
I am only aware of a report of Timo Wendtland.

1. The Align 3G is not opened for setting up multiple parameters yet
as V-BAR or AC3X does. So as of now real comparison seems
to be rather unfair.

2. Looking at the Videos, especially the ones of Alan, one cannot
notice that big flaws. And keeping in mind that 99% of the pilots
are miles away when it comes to their flying capabilities every
hobby pilot who wants to try FBL should be quite happy with it.

Posting problems, issues and desasters with the 3G due to personal errors, set-up errors or super high voltage servo killing should be avoided.

And, Timo Wendtland, a German pilot probably will give his vote rather for a German product than the Align 3G. So one have to take care reading such reports.

I agree that good comparison will only be possible once align gives us some tunability on the software. i think it seems to perform very well taken into account the limitation on adjusting all the parameters as with vbar, gyrobot etc. Let's give it a chance!

Common sense may not be common after all

I guess everybody has either personal experince and/or his sources of information (yes Timo is one of them) and based on that an opinion which she/he is free to proclaim. Sorry up-pitching in FFF and bobbling in high G manuevers involving elevator can be expierenced by every (a bit experienced) average pilot .....

Well the funny part here Twinpeak is with 3 units local we have not seen that behavior at all.
in fact quite the opposite.
locked in FFF and very stable and predictable flight. We have seen a very small bobble on hard elevator ticks.. but with gain tuning they are getting rid of it pretty easily.

you have yet to even see one in person or fly one and you ( and others) are ready to sing doomsday on what a few fanboys have to say without having direct contact with the device in question.

Mine will arrive today but after seeing 3 now I dont think I'll have any issues.

I can vouch for that observation as well.

I have seen about 10 Align 3G FBL units in flight, including two of my own. Every one of them have absolutely no pitching up in FFF or bobbing. I am basing this observation on my own experience, plus the others I've witnessed at local club. I am not calling it one way or the other because somebody thousands miles away made a claim after he tried it for 5 minutes. Seeing is believing.

I totally agree with USNAviationjay. Some people are determined Align's 3G unit will fail, so they immediately call crap when the first hint of problem was reported, like some guy frying 6v JR servos on 8v. While they overlook the other dozens of successful flight reports.

People, please don't jump on the Align bashing wagon until you have witnessed it with your own eyes.
