I have just got a near perfect American Revolution 40.........Came without a canopy. It was a one piece, smoke(light gray tint), kinda narrow.

Thanks in advance.

Only regrets of a lifetime are things I did not do

The post is kind of confusing. Congrats on your find? Are you looking for a canopy to buy? Or is it for sale?

How about a pic?

Came without a canopy.
He's looking for a new or like-new canopy to complete the heli.

I think your best bet is to PM badgerfarm to see if he can make one for you. He said in a previous thread that he needs a decent example to reproduce one.

That's one tough canopy to make as it's very "undercut" in shape. Very deep drawn too which causes the edges to stretch out very thin. Then you need to find the perfect, new canopy to use as the master and there's some risk of damaging in in the copying process. That's why Randal and Kirk don't have Revolution parts for sale.

He can ask but I know what the answer's going to be...

Yea I know, but badgerfarm said he could maybe make a two piece canopy, which is better than none or a cracked one. I wouldn't give up. I know what you're talking about the undercut shape. Seems like only a glassblower could shape it. It would be easier to make one from FG with a foam plug/mold.

Steve,
You took the words right out of my mouth. I've been working on a new type of mold that will generate less heat in the molding process and should minimize the risk of damage to a donor canopy. Which brings us to the next consideration when reproducing any mold and that is the demand for the finished product. It can easily take anywhere from 40 to 100 hours of shop time to make the mold(s) and if there is little demand for the finished part it doesn't make economic sense to spend the time on them. If there was a demand for them I might be persuaded to make the mold.

I've been playing with the idea of making a 2 pc canopy like the Schluters that would need to be glued together instead of a single draw. It would have the same profile and width as the original. What do you guys think about that idea? I know it's not factory original but would be better than nothing and a whole lot easier to make.

That's OK with me. Like you say, it's better than nothing.

Do you have a good master canopy to start with?
