Hi,

My two day old JR X9503 neck strap hook on the tx is coming loose. I remember some bulletin somewhere which shows how to open the X9303 radio and tighten the screw from inside.

Can anyone help me finding the bulletin or please let me know how to tighten the hook from inside the radio.

Thanks

The manual already shows you how to remove the back so you have access to the tension adjustment for the sticks.

Once you're inside, it's a no brainer to figure out what you need to remove to get to that pesky nut.

Beware, however. The stud that's on the end of the hook-mount is soft and if you use too much torque, easily snapped off.

The neckstrap hook came loose on my 9303 right away too. If I remember right, inside the TX the on-off switch is on top of the bolt which holds the neck strap hook making it a little bit difficult to get to. But I could be wrong.

What I ended up doing was to turn the neck strap hook a couple of times clockwise until it tightened up. You might try that first.

Once you get the back off (read your manual about taking it off to adjust the stick tension), you'll find a small printed wiring board situated between the two stick modules.

It's shown above in this picture borrowed from the JR wire chafing service bulletin.

Anyhow, there's that big silver "phillips" screw (really a JIS screw) just above and to the right of the screw driver in the picture. You need to remove that screw and its washer. At the bottom of that skinny PWB are two additional black screws (again JIS, but a phillips will do in a pinch) that need to come out. When those are out, you can carefully lift out the PWB. It would probably be a real good idea to unplug the battery pack from the radio before you do this so you don't accidentally short stuff out.

When that little PWB is out of the way, you'll see the hex nut and the end of the brass stud. I removed mine, cleaned it well, then reassembled using RED loctite. AS an added bit of security, I mixed up a small batch of JB weld and carefully poured it around the outside of the nut -- filling the little well that the nut resides in. This keeps the whole stud/nut assembly from rotating later on.

Let the JB Weld cure, reassemble carefully, plug your battery pack in and put the back on.

dkshema,

Thank you very much for your step by step walk through.

I put little blue locktite, do you think it will hold?

Thanks

Yes, nice step by step instructions.

I'm not really sure the blue Loctite will make a difference. As far as I can tell, the neck strap holder can be bonded to the screw, but still rotate in the case.

What I found is that by putting a LiPO in the TX to make the bottom lighter and then getting a shorter neck strap balancer, there is less of a torque arm to loosen the hook in the first place.
