My YS91SR idles great and runs great BUT just after flying around and then I land it, dies everytime. If I am quick enough and pump the throttle I can keep it going and spool it up again so I can't determine if it is loading up or starving for fuel.
It also has a problem with fuel getting into the cylinder so I have to lean it on its side almost everytime I want to start it.
Could this be my check valve leaking back?

Carb settings are

Low = 1/2 open
Mid = 1 3/4 open
High = 7/8 open

temps on the side of engine (on the YS emblem)are around 109 to 114

If you have to bend over more than once to pickup your Heli it was a bad landing

With those temps, could easily be 1/4 or more.

If you gonna temp the emblem, shoot for about 180 F

I think thats wrong, the emblem should be the same as the back plate temp, the head should be around 180-200, not the side of the engine and back plate. Back plate and side should be around 115-125, not 180!!

It's been my experience that the emblem is generally 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the bottom fin of the head.

That would equate to 200 to 210 degrees on the head.

195 in between first two fins under head ON side of motor not the bottom side where the motor is cool down by shroud.

This hobby sucks, when your not flying.

You can get a free pdf file of the manual for the YS.91SR at the below URL.

http://www.yspartsandservice.com

Your Low needle is set Lean at the lowest recommended and Mid needle at the highest Rich recommended. Every engine is different. My SR low needle is set at 1.0 turns and idles great. My mid is around 1.6 turns.

I run an OS50, OS55 a YS50 and an OS91, and all of them run around 115-120 on both the side of the engine and the back plate, and the head area is running around 180-200 degrees with those temps on the back plates and sides. Am I missing something here? If I was to run the temps on the back plate and side emblem area at 180 degrees, my head would be way over 200 degrees, or am I wrong about this??? someone chime in and let us know...

Went to the field long enough to test it
I opened the low end to 1 turn open and closed the mid to 1.5 and had to move the idle trim almost all the way up to get it to start, it still runs OK but still dying when I come in and land. It is pouring fuel out the carb throat so I changed out the check valve, no change. I guess next I will pull carb off and check diaphram.

Just a thouight but are you coming in to land on throttle hold? If so you needto raise the setting up a couple click above your idle setting .

Yes, I set it higher just trying to keep it running. I pulled carb and diaphram looks OK but I am going to order one tomorrow because it still floods after landing like the fuel isn't being shut down to idle.

Problem Solved
Thanks to BUZZ at Magnum Fuels a friend of his had the same problem and he told me how to adjust the fuel regulator to solve the problem. I did as he suggested and fixed my problem straight away.

Thanks BUZZ

I worked great for one day and I have been having issues with it going lean now so still working on the issue.
I adjusted the regulator by blowing into the regulator with mouth pressure and tighten the screw down until I could no longer hear air coming out the carb then tightened it another 1/8 turn. Like I said this worked great but I think I have another fuel delivery problem now. I plan to change the regulator out tomorrow and try it with a known good one.

Yes I do have pressure on tank, I have replace the check valve and all fuel lines, it just seems to starve for fuel a little bit when I come out of a Maneuver off full or 3/4 throttle back to 1/2 throttle, and it is only for a few seconds but it isn't right so I have to chase it down

The only needle valve that controls idle is the idle needle.None of the other needles have effect on idle. Sounds like you need to richen the idle mixture and set the idle a little higher.

The regulator is not adjustable,you must be closing the idle needle valve.
