We want cheper, and cheaper things. Pretty soon you can buy a nice remote control car for $3.00 and it will run like hell for a minute, then catch on fire, and burn your house down.
And we got it at Walmart. Joy joy joy.

China now worlds largest exporter
They have taken over from Germany. This snowball gets bigger and bigger. If the unions have helped them achieve this?shame on them.A lot of the problems looming are not going to be inside America in the future, people need to look outside.IMHO this is where our future will be decided.

Wal-Mart Interview

Jennifer a manager at Wal- Mart had the task of hiring someone to fill a job opening. After sorting through a stack of 20 resumes she found four people who were equally qualified. Jennifer decided to call the four in and ask them only one question. Their answer would determine which of them would get the job.

The day came and as the four sat around the conference room table, Jennifer asked, 'What is the fastest thing you know of?'

The first man replied, 'A THOUGHT.' It just pops into your head. There's no warning.

'That's very good!' replied Jennifer.
'And, now you sir?', she asked the second man.

'Hmmm...let me see 'A blink! It comes and goes and you don't know that it ever happened. A BLINK is the fastest thing I know of.'

'Excellent!' said Jennifer. 'The blink of an eye, that's a very popular cliché for speed.' She then turned to the third man, who was contemplating his reply..

'Well, out at my dad's ranch, you step out of the house and on the wall there's a light switch. When you flip that switch, way out across the pasture the light on the barn comes on in less than an instant. 'Yip, TURNING ON A LIGHT is the fastest thing I can think of'.

Jennifer was very impressed with the third answer and thought she had found her man. 'It 's hard to beat the speed of light,' she said.

Turning to BUBBA, the fourth and final man, Jennifer posed the same question.

Old Bubba replied, 'After hearing the previous three answers, it's obvious to me that the fastest thing known is DIARRHEA.'

'WHAT!?' said Jennifer, stunned by the response...

'Oh sure', said BUBBA. 'You see, the other day I wasn't feeling so good, and I ran for the bathroom, but before I could THINK, BLINK, or TURN ON THE LIGHT, I had already sh#?t my pants.'

BUBBA is now the new greeter at a Wal-Mart near you!

You probably will think of this every time you enter a Wal-Mart from now on!

Flyin'.....skilled labor is kind of another issue. Overpaid??? Who's to say. Maybe, maybe not. But where unions ARE killing us is in the non-skilled arena. Again, refer to my Delphi bit above. Pushing a broom at a GM plant and making in the 50's or 60's plus benny's??? THAT'S why were jacked.

That's funny Hootowl... if I needed a job I wouldn't be ashamed to work at Wal-Mart or any other retail establishment in order to feed my family/pay my bills. But I would be smart enough to know it was temporary and wouldn't whine that Wal-Mart doesn't pay me enough.

Everyone is a master of their own destiny... what you choose to make of it is all on YOU.

Well, Freddies & K Mart would do better and there would be more people looking for work. The Dems would be happy because all those ex WalMart people would be in Union Shops.

Thats about it.

Can't be done. You cannot pay your bills and feed your family by working on the floor at Wally World. Dream on.

If someone needed a job walmart is still better then sitting on thier butt watching T.V ads collecting unemployement.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Yes it can. I know people who have done it. You just can't have the "needs" some people have. You just have to spend sensible. No more porter house stakes. No more X Box instead of that washing machine (a real example by a friend). No fancy sports car. No RC helis

Union employes are a good example of this. They say they cannot survive if they loose their Union job. They say, "how am I going to make that payment on my $80K boat or my $500K house?"

I survived on less than $25K a year for 10 years while my wife went through college and than grad school. One year was even down to $17K due to the weather. BTW I worked construction.

It all boils down to your "needs" and living within your means.

I cannot improve on that statement.

I challenge that one let's do the math:

Ready? Let's suppose a typical family of 4.3. Want me to lay out the numbers for you?

Sorry...edited to be a bit more tactful.

Keep in mind... Wal-Mart pays $8.25/hr and keep in mind that cashiers and sales associates and greeters (where you start for the 1st year) typically work 20 to 33 hours a week thus avoiding "full time" employee status and any associated benefits.

A (stand-alone) family of 4.3 living in a s-hole and just scraping by is still gonna cost $1950/month to survive (rent/food/utilities/clothing/medical/misc) - that is if all family members don't have any medical issues. That is less than you were surviving on... how many kids did ya'll have?

If both adults work at Wal-Mart go ahead and double the monthly income but don't forget to drop in $200 more on Child care (that is for 3 kids staying at Hannibal's house for the month). Add in the extra transportation costs as well.

If one of the children is less that 1yr add in another $150/month child care and medical and other toddler needs.

If they are not riding bicycles to work add in car, gas, maintenance and insurance.
I survived on less than $25K a year for 10 years
I honestly salute you for that. But you see, that is DOUBLE what you would have made at Wal-Mart.

You were wise to invest in the future by one of you getting an education and hopefully a better job. Hats off... honestly.
