Not a whole lot of activity in Alabama helicopter related so your desire to drive right around the corner and find pay-dirt might not be practical. Here in Birmingham it's pretty much around 8-10 guys who fly heli's and maybe only 3 that are heli-only guys including myself. If you need help with your bird come down to the Bessemer club one weekend when the weather permits and we can give you a hand. What kind of bird do you have? Anyone from Alabama reading this thread will understand the statement "if weather permits". We can give you directions to our field. Regarding the efforts to start up a heli- only club, valiant as they are, it will prove difficult to make progress and get people excited about heli's in our state to increase your club's membership numbers. Our club is right by a busy road and every now and again someone will stop, talk, watch, and show some interest but it always makes them lose interest when they realize it will take about $600-$1000 to trully get started in the hobby. This isn't a recession it's an all out depression.

North AL
teddieitgolf,

Huntsville Heli Flyers is probably the closest AMA sanctioned and active helicopter club closest to you. I understand your frustration not having a more local club field, but we're happy to have you visit. As mentioned, AL can sometimes be... remote. During flying season we've had guys from Guntersville and Boaz on the weekends. So you may be able to round up enough locals to commandeer a cotton field or something. In the meantime, come up to Huntsville.

Best of Luck,

Daniel

I live in athens.. I just a begginer though.. I have post befor too asking about ppl in N. Alabama. Not much response, execpt the "Huntsville Flight Club", and not to say that bad. But nontheless I have a trex 600n, and a 500. Getting another or swapping to FBL w/income tax. Probally get a Outrage setup.. Dunno yet still tossing that decision around a bit. If ya ever get up this way give me a PM and well hook up and hit Huntsville together..
