I am liking the electric though. Never mess with the needle but that the 120....you might get the same power but for longer flight times

That good huh Paul? You think its more power that the electric? I know its longer on a tank for sure.

Electric still has more raw power. The Nitro is lighter and it has the same unbogable power as an electric.....its just a different kind of power. The flight time is obviously better then electric and its easier to hot lap it.

I got in a few flights today finally. I think it has been 3 weeks since I have flown. Only flew my FB clone and I was rusty. After those flights I was very unhappy with how it was flying so I tore the head down and set it all up again. It was off quite a bit after some crashes and tracking blades.
Took a pair of thin gloves and cut the fingure and thumb off and it worked for the temp we had today.

I only got about 10 flights in today. A little windy but I've gotten pretty used to wind. It's funny how much Its leaning in wind but you don't notice as much flying sideways.

I couldn't afford the fuel for it
700 for motor and pipe and who knows what a tanker of fuel would be

It gets maybe 30 seconds less flight time then a 90 at most. Fuel is 3 bucks per gallon cheaper.

I wonder,if the popularity on the 120 increases, will the cost decrease? Initially that's what happens. We'll have to wait and see. I also wonder if a 90 pipe on it would work? Of course they want you to buy the pipe they make for it, but realistically? I mean so many of these pipes look alike, but claim the insides are different, how you gunna check and see?

If you are buying a 120 for the power you wouldn't want to go cheap on the pipe and lose power that would be crazy

Yeah, but what I'm sayin is that maybe you don't need the pipe made for the 120, maybe its the same as the pipe for a 90! We have to take the manufacturers word that there IS a difference. Then shuck out the 140. for the 120 pipe. When maybe the pipe we already have would work. I guess someone will try it and let us know!

I'm just sayin!

LOL I did bench test it. I think autos of any hiegth other than 6' are a ways off for me. I just wanted to have it setup. Watching Aaron play around with bailouts this fall I figured I should set mine up.

BTW I am proud of the fact that I have been using a linear pitch curve in normal mode on the Whiplash ever since setup. My 450's still have 45,47,50,75,100 in normal mode but that is so my son can practice with them. I fly them in idle up anyway.
You guys helped me emensly to uderstand setup on helis as well as radios and again I thank you.
I have a little more to learn this week and that is how to set my aileron and elivator to normal mode by a single switch for carrying it from the table to a take of spot to keep the swash level.
I already have the rudder on a switch(did that today) so that the next time I fly it I can mechanically set up the tail.
I sure wish this little park by my house was larger. Well it acommidates my 450.

Sonny I don't have to take the manufacture's word. I know there is a difference. For as many pipes that I have tried that look the same, there is most defiantly a difference. The Hatori 120 pipe is the same length at the 90 pipes but it is bigger in diameter.

If you buy the engine, buy the pipe, the workhas been done

Talked to Tim Jones at OHB and he told me they played with a whole bunch of pipes finding the magic interior volume that worked best to get the tune just right with the 120. We talked about many pipe parameters and I shared how my dad and I worked with a group in the UK in the 60's & 70's back in our U/C speed days on tuned pipe designs and cone shapes and variable length tune pipes we used to dial in the right volumes, backpressures, outlet sizes, cone diameters while mixing our speed fuels for various engines and climate changes. I am sure the pipe is pretty well dialed in on the YS120 for the area of the powerband that the engine will be using most of the time. Tim and his dad brought a lot of car and buggy pipe experience to the project. Anyway, they sure did run nicely at OHB and pulled really hard with a lower steady audible beat very different from the OS 105. The 105's looked good too. The YS really seemed economical as the flight times seemed really long on the standard tank on the T700. For now it's the price point that is the barrier for most of us. Only Aaron and Paul are ready for that much power. Those helis punch out so fast and far, one wrong input and the bird will be on you before you can say Oh S*&T.
