I think Ircha had a pretty good event with IAN (Ircha Armature Nationals). A great concept for the "up and coming pilots". Something to shoot for, for the advanced pilot. Perhaps a means of recognition for hard working pilots.

Yet another Pro competition.

I have seen Ircha's procrastination on their web site with this issue since back in early spring. I called the president of Ircha directly myself six weeks ago (while he was driving in his car) and asked when the 2009 Ian info was going to be updated for 2010. In short he told me there would be changes. I guess he was right. Two months after the web-site's date of April 1st (when all the info was supposed to be posted). I know of two fellas who were working hard and had hoped to try to get into the Ian competition. I'm certain there were more.

http://ircha.org/index.php?pr=IAN_Competition_Rules
Here it is! 2009 Ian Competition. Still there! A year later! Not even mentioned! Not bothered to be deleted! Not bothered to be updated! Leaves me to believe Ircha won't be having a Ian competition this year?!? Am I right? Is this so? I'd think they would properly update their website.... Two months to go, and all my reservations are made and I have no idea what to expect on this Ian competition... Do you? Can you decipher their outdated web site?

I hope their not tossing out the Amateur Nationals competition for this world champion competition. Now that would be a waste of a great thing, Ian. Kinda like kicking out a high school football team and bring in the Dallas Cowboys to play when I'm really "wanting" and "expecting" to see friends and peers.

IRCHA,
Please! Please! update your web site.
Please! Please! Don't do away with Ian.

Guys,

The IAN has NOT been canceled and is still on! Both rounds will be held on Friday now because of Saturday's event. There have been very minor changes in the rules that will not affect the format. Will post rules this week yet after confirming the rules change with IRCHA. I'm the one to blame for the delay in the announcement and not IRCHA. We are looking forward to seeing some great new talent again this year. Please encourage the guys you know to apply later this week.

Again, sorry for the delay.

Jack

Joji,
when you posted your questions about ian I immediately PM you letting you know that we will have it again this year and the only difference would be instead of a two day event it will be a one day event. I guess you didn't get that pm. Andy p/Pinoy.

OK, the rules and application are now up on the IRCHA web site. The application this year is a fillable pdf and should be submitted electronically. We are really looking forward to seeing this year's talent and want to encourage guys to give it a shot. Just for the record, we have never considered doing away with the IAN, it represents a lot of what this hobby is about!

I don't know how we could be more impressed that we were last year. The fireworks were great and Empire really raised the bar for the event, that's for sure.

Looking forward to even more excitement and fun this year!

Another Fantastic Show.....

We are bringing 3 new guys with us this year and even though we have told them a LOT of what to expect, after reading the latest posts, it sounds like they, along with us, will be in for some great surprises.... looking forward to the "World" comp and now I am reading that EMPIRE is looking at doing the fireworks again..... totally amazed last year, so can bet that we are looking forward to this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Shade Canopy size?

Hi,

This will be my second year attending IRCHA and I'm wondering what's the best shade canopy size to bring. I'm thinking 10 x 10, but I'd like to get some other opinions.

Thanks!

Hi Stan,

If you think the fireworks was grreat last year then be ready for this year because Empire is making it even bigger and I mean BIGGER and LOUDER.

Another new we have this year is the new concept in competition. The ONE competition is our new way of looking at competition. More enjoyable to watch, more fun for the pilots and new way of judging.

You guys can look it up at the IRCHA website
