Happy New Year !! Has anyone done any auto's,full autos from altitude, with the above Ranger ? It just doesn't appear to have much reserve . I auto my Vario Bell 47 G III a bunch and at 31 lbs it autos very well. I am waiting for a resonable temp day and a 15-20 mph steady wind to shoot the first auto's but thought some of you guys might have been there with this particular model. Thanks

Wayne,

What is the weight of your Jet Ranger? I did a auto with the big turbine Huey and it didn't have much left but also I was not at a decent altitude. It weighs around 50lbs. Let us know how it goes and try to get some video if you can.

Jet Ranger

I have been flying the Vario Jet ranger 111 for a long time, the weight is approx 20 pounds, it does ok on autos with the Vario 419 blades, however I think there is more reserve using Joe Howards blades with washout.

I think that if you could enter the auto with a higher head speed (more than 1200))it would do much better.

I fly my Century Condor 16 pounds with 810 blades, 1600rpm , with zero wind in most cases you have enough energy to do a second lift off..

This Ranger weighs in at 20 lbs.. My Bell 47 weighs 31 lb and auto,s beautifully !Of course the disc diameter is larger on the 47. I guess i could get a closer handle by figuring the sq.inches of my 47 blade to weight ratio.

Bell 47

Just like on the full scale 47, you have to go along way to find a better ratio.
