Am I the only one having issues with the front canopy mounts/screws? I even got red thumb screws (to match my red canopy) from Ron's, and still have problems lining up the front holes to get the screws on (and I don't even have my electronics in yet).

Anyone out there have a better/easier set up on the front canopy mounts?

Install the front ones first.

On one of my canopy I used the regular clip up front and the screws in back, works great.

I screw in the back ones first, then just move the front up and down while screwing in a front one. Most of the time I get it quickly, and find it no more time consuming or fiddly than trying to get that front clip to go over the front skid support. I like knowing 4 screws are holding the canopy on, and it's worth the work.

Heli 770, If you do any fast backward flight then it would be wise to put a screw through the clip into the skid to keep the canopy out of the rotor disk (old trick for new players)

Rob:

Install the rear ones first, then make sure the front of the canopy is positioned in the correct place, meaning the bottom of the canopy is about 1/16" from the front skid. Now gently push in and move the front thumb screw (one at a time) until you feel it's in the mount hole, then thread it in making sure it goes straight. This is the most important thing to be acquainted: To have the screw going in straight. One get easily fooled by the canopy convex surface and while believing the screw is going in straight, actually, it isn't. It takes some time to get used to this.

It's very important to not force the screws while threading them in. If the screws aren't going in easily, this means they're not entering the mounts straight.

Take care.

Yea it was a pain at first but now I don't even have to look. I also don't use the screws that come with the kit anymore. I use 3mm thumb screws from FMP and the washers you would normally use with the stock screws. Much easier and a whole lot faster to get the canopy off and on plus you can get them in a few different colors. I use red with my red canopy. I get mine from RC Hobbies and More. Irwin is a great guy and attends all of the Fun Fly's in our area + he is an advertiser here on RR.

I got some of those screws (red) from HP South. It's just a PIA to find the front holes with them. It was just alot easier to pull the canopy off the older-style Raptors real quick (and put it back on) if needed without fiddling with the alignment.

I use the Quick UK thumb screws and I have got used to how to get the body in the right spot and then put them in. You can not get in a hurry or you will cross thread the post real easy .

@NitroAl - the Titan SE comes with a different canopy from all the other Raptors - there's no clip for attaching to the front skid bracket, instead there are four holes for mounting the canopy more securely.

But your well-meaning advice is certainly relevant for older Raptors

I think he was talking about if you did add the clip to the new FRP canopy. Thats what im doing just drill two holes and install the clip then put a screw threw that so the canopy dont raise up during high backward flight.
