I wanted to start a thread of FBL setup experience for this unit. Please only post setup's! Argue somewhere else.

I am fairly pleased with my current configs. I would like to have the gain a little higher but it shakes. I would like to go in to 11mm on the servos but I am too lazy to re-setup the bird.

Trex 600 and Aeolus with Novarossi57s with Outrage heads.
Align 610s using star wheels at 12mm.
Mounted with align pu /metal plate / alignpu / Gyro

AILE-RAT 100
ELEV-RAT 100
PITC-RAT 40
CYCL-LMT 230

AIL/ELE GAIN 24/25
AIL/ELE Feed 12/12
Tailgain 22
Rud-EXP -20

Do not use the Tail Torque Comp settings as they are bad and deactivate the tail.

I guess I am the only person with one of these units cuz nobody else is posting. Someone...Anyone...

I moved my ball links in to the suggested 10mm and it really made a good improvement. The bird feels more connected and I am able to go higher in gain without shake. I suspect I will get a few more points when it is warmer and the servo cords soften up to translate less vibration. Does anyone know if there are extra soft silicone wires or something like that? Would it be beneficial to put foam or gel around the wires where they strap to the bird?

I am very happy with the performance. Piro-flips feel every bit as good as a flybar. I lowered the feedback from 12 to 10 because it was pitching up on high speed passes. It is much better. I am going to try it a little lower again just to see what it does.
These settings give me about 14 degrees of pitch and 10 for cyclic.

AILE-RAT 100
ELEV-RAT 100
PITC-RAT 50
CYCL-LMT 250

AIL/ELE GAIN 30/31
AIL/ELE Feed 10/10
Tailgain 22
Rud-EXP -20

I've got right now the v2 version.

First of all the v2 has 4 different flight condition (like the VBar's banks) switchable by tx .... very cool ...

There are new parameters to tweak the setup and the behaviour of the eli....

I'm going to install the new FS-600 on my TRex 700 and I'll let you now....

Ciao

Its been too cold to fly a bunch but I have gotten a few in. I took some advise from Mike F. to turn down the Feedback to fix balooning in forward flight and it is much better. I want to try it even lower but its just too cold.

Here are my latest settings.
AILE-RAT 94
ELEV-RAT 94
PITC-RAT 48
CYCL-LMT 230

AIL/ELE GAIN 30/31
AIL/ELE Feed 8/8
Tailgain 23
Rud-EXP -20

I hope to have some video soon. Warmer weather expected this weekend.

My Trex 700 is ready to fly with the FS600 v2.

I'm working on the Hurricane 425 flybarless with the FS600 v2 too.

Hope in a good w.e. to test both.

Im ready to take my FS600 off.
Not impressed at all.

Its on a Trex 700N, Futaba star servo horns in one hole from outside.
Im using the recommended servo tape and thickness.

I cant get my gain over 22, feed is at 30.
Ail and Ele rate is at 150, limit is at 180

Its doing basically nothing IMO.
Not stabilizing anything at all, and has never felt locked in unless it was not flying lol.

My tail gain is at 45%, did a mild backwards loop, tail blew out 90deg.
Very disappointed.

Motor is Novarossi HR91 REX with matching pipe.

Pitch is about 13deg and cyclic was about 9.

Maybe Im doing something wrong, but the manual is the worst Ive seen for anything.

Someone do a video lol.

Gorn..Is that a Star Trek reference? Here's my 2cents on your issue.

What software version do you have in your FS600? The Version 2 software works much different than before.
I only have experience with version 2 where the feedback is best set lower than 10 for a tighter controlled feel. I have seen ballooning with higher feedback.

The tail and ail/ele gains sound like a vibration / mechanical linkage issue. For a Trex 700n your servo linkages should be 12mm from center. The align wheels are too far out.

For mounting you should try kiosho zeal jell tape or align PU jell tape. I was able to get a few extra gain points by switching from foam to jell. Also verify your wires are loose enough to absorb shock without being slack enough to induce vibration.

The Cyclic limit sounds a bit too low which goes back to the Mechanical Linkage setup on the servo's. It works best with 10mm on 600 size and 12mm on 700 size birds. I think this unit needs the extra resolution to hold better.

Axiom 720

I will get some pics up later on tonight and hope to get some videos this weekend if we can get some flyable weather in Florida.

I am using a layer of Zeal and 1 layer of Align gel, thick Zeal on the bottom-plate-Align Gel .

I should also mention that I am using stock Align wheels, I have not moved them to inner holes just yet but I will.

The system so far is working very well and is rock solid, I am still tweaking settings to get the best variants for a variety of flying styles but for 3D, the system is working well. Even for low down, pop and stop manuvers it feels very good and similar to a flybar.

I am running 13 +/- pitch and 10 degrees of cyclic on a Trex 700 with Align Flybarless Head.

AILE-RAT 120
ELEV-RAT 120
PITC-RAT 60
CYCL-LMT 230

AIL/ELE GAIN 28/30
AIL/ELE Feed 3/3
Tailgain 28

First off, Feedback doesn't affect "ballooning" the gain settings will. This is opposite of some of the other stystems on the market.

Right now I am running a feedback of 3 on the elevator, gain is at 30 and with the Align DS610 servos I am running 1520-160 pulse width.

Aileron and Elevator are set to 120, Tail gain is at 28%.

As I mentioned, the Axiom 720 is working very well so far and new updates are coming very soon.

I am in the process of re-writing the entire instruction manual in lamens terms so that it's easier to navigate and not in "Eng-lese" it should be done soon and will be posted on the Inertia website.

Hope this helps.

John

yes its a Star Trek name lol.

Measured the ball distance from center, its 11mm.
Any less and it hits the servo case at full travel.

Weird that the tail works best at lower gain, opposite of logical thinking.
So I need a longer horn for the tail.

Unfortunately Zeal gel and even Align PU gel tape are hard to get locally here.

I will hunt around for some though.

Going to try a few different settings on the weekend, and if that doesnt work I will go back to flybar for the short term.
At least until I have a better manual and some gel tape to try.

Also it would appear that I was incorrectly thinking that higher % of Feed rate = better.
Seems to me I have that backwards yeah?

Its great to see that people are getting it to work, and are also being active on helping other gumbies like me

I will say this, 4 point rolls are blazing fast now.
I just dont know what it will do mid manouvre though, so there is a pile of dirty shorts after each flight

It seems that Gorn is running the early version of the software on his fs600, unfourtunetly it will be very hard to get that one flying the way it should.

With the v2 software of the Axiom, I think you will find that programming is much easier and the program is much more responsive and dialed in.

Had a similar problem wirh my V1 FS600. Very little stabilization.

Question about V2. If I read the manual correctly, the tail gain is now used to switch between the 4 flight modes and doesn't change the tailgyro gain anymore?

And the 4 modes are selectable in flight by changing the gain channel? Wondering because with the LCD connected, I have to power cycle the system to change from one flight mode to another.

Thanks

Fritz

Fritz,

I change the settings with my Aux 2 switch on the DX7, it allows for 2 fight modes while in the air but 4 flight modes in total this is ideal when tweaking your ideal settings.

On the v2 software of the Axiom, you simply need to hit the "Read system" button on the LCD and it will tell you what flight mode you are in, no need to power the system on/off to get that reading.

The manual is a bit hard to follow for the fs600 as it's in "engl-ese", I am in the process of re-writing the Axiom manual in good readable English.

Just an FYI for those with the older version of the FS600. If you have an older version, they are replacing them with the newer ones for free. I got mine from Heli Flight Center (I think they are the FS600 importer, SJGD referred me directly to tehm when I was looking to buy one a few months back), and Friday I got a package from them with a new V2 SJGD. They even included a label for return of the old one.

Hopefully the weather gets decent at some point so I can go out and fly it again!

so lowering feedback makes it less twitchy like expo?

Can someone explain EXACTLY what the feedback function does, and what effect higher and lower numbers have for it.

I forgot to mention....I changed the servo type to 1520-16 and it feels better than the recommended 1520-25 for the Align DS610 servos. I don't know why but I changed the settings back and forth and liked the 160 better. The 250 feels slicker... (Thanks Mike)
