Happy New Year to all....

I'm trying to resolve and ESC issue

I'm having problems programming my Kontronik ESC (120+ HV). I'm using it in a TRex 700E, 12S with a Scorpion 4035-560.

I'm trying to programme via the Tx and set it in mode 4 (or mode 11).
When I power up the ESC I get the initialisation sound, 3 rising beeps. However, when I remove the jumper to start the programming sequence I get a strange tone, it's more like a fast buzzing noise and the ESC doesn't give 3 descending tones and start its programming sequence. I just continue to get the short strange buzzing noise about every 20 seconds or so.

I seem to be able to use the programming cards, I have tried with Progcard 1 and it appears to work. I now get the initialisation sound and 5 or 6 double beeps. The ESC drives the motor OK. However I want to programme it using the Tx or at least understand the issue.

Does anyone have any comments?

Kind regards
Pete

Hmm, that doesnt sound right for sure, Are you using some kind of external powersource or are you just using the BEC?

Kontronik programming

Fredrik, thanks for looking...

I started off using the BEC from the ESC. I've now cut the red wire on the lead from the ESC to the Rx throttle channel and am powering the RX separately.

After I changed a few parameters with the Progcard (set it to Brake off, LiPo and also set it to RPM on) I started getting a series of double beeps after the initialisation tone. Not sure what's going on here either.

That's positive, 6 double beeps adds up to 12S. I just need to understand why the Tx programming sounds don't work & how you programme mode 11 with the Prog cards.

I won't be happy until I understand what's going on. Kontronik are back on line from 11 Jan. I'll contact my UK supplier on Monday.

Do you have any other motor you can try? beeping actually comes from the motor, so it might be some mis-match there, also check motor connects, scorpion soldering of bullets has been hit and miss from time to time.

I don't have another motor that I can easily try. The motor on my TRex 600E is very difficult to disconnect (really, really tight bullet connectors).

I will however have a go tomorrow & see if I can do a check with the Align 650L motor and one 6S pack connected....

Just tried the Kontronic on the Align 650L with a 6S pack attached and it worked. Good suggestion Fredrik :-)

I put the throttle stick high after 11 beeps - presume that it should now be correctly programmed. Does it matter that I only had a 6S pack & a 650L attached? I don't see why it should make any difference.

I will be using it with 12S and the Scorpion motor......

Will check the ESC parameters with the Progcards and post back later.

ESC parameters are:

Progcard
Brake Off
LiPo Yes
Batt empty Cut off (changed to slow down)
Slow down volts 2.7 (changed to 3.0)
Start up -
Timing/RPM Auto
RPM control On
Stick positions Fixed
Set motor off positions etc these were set using the Tx throttle stick

Progcard2
BEC Volts 5.6 (not using the BEC-are others using this with a 12s 700 machine?)
Brake strength -
Vernier -
RPM Control -
Reverse Rotation direction Off (I set this by changing 2 of the wires to the motor)
Hold = 0.3s 0ff (are others using this? or is 3 seconds default considered OK?)

Comments welcomed.
Thanks again Fredrik (MrMel)
