I took my 611 off my Spectra and put my Spartan and BLS251 on it and it holds the tail even with the motor running rich, yes i do still have a little bounce but it does not try to make a slow 360 like the 611 did. I bought a Inertia 860 for my Trex 700 but when i got ready to test it the other day the hex starter shaft broke clean off in my starter coupler and so far i have not been able to get it out. I do love the LCD hand held programmer of the 860 but i can't say how it performs.

I would say get the Spartan you WILL like it.

Thanks and good luck

Well i just got the broke off hex tip out my starter coupler.I took it off the heli and it has a hole all the way thru,i beat and beat and it would not come out so i put the heat gun to it and beat it with a metal hammer and it came out. In the process i burned both my hands on the hot parts my best advice is not to use a mavrick starter shaft i have three off them and the all fail and very quick. I now have a JR shaft on my mavrick one way bearing and so far it has been very good. I was going to get the 520 but i got tired of waiting for it to come out so i got the spartan instead and i love it,it holds with a very low % which is better on the servo. Goodluck.

Thanks jack of all trades and master of none

I am not getting any drift with my 611, and I am at 25% gain, it holds heading very well, but when the motor is rich or cold, it kind of burps a little every 4 or 5 seconds in hover, which i have been told is proper tunning, the tail moves left or right maybe 2" when it does this. My nitro's do not do this at all. I am wondering if the spartan can overcome this, or is this just a mechanical limitation.

Well if you tired the Spartan you would drop the 611 like a bad a habbit. The Spartan is so much better in everyway you will wonder why you even messed with the 611. I saw a MA 20 year rep fly with the Spartan in fast backwards fly with not hand on the stick that i knew the Spartan was the man.He flue fast backwards light with no stick input i knew the Spartan was for men the guys name was Mike ans i forget his last name but he is one bad dude. He was flightiny thr Spartan but he had a 520 on the 600 and he said he did not really like it that he loves the the spartan better. I don't know because i'm not that good but i do like the Spartan. Get the Spartan or the the inertia 860.I got the broke off hex starter shaft out my trex700 so i hope tomar i can test the 860. Hope this helps.

Thanks

I see your strong conviction is third party oriented, not personal use. For your info, I have seen that same demo where the hot pilot used a 611 and also a 520.

Personally, I have not tried the Spartan in the same heli, with the same installation as I have my 611 or 520 in. So I do not feel I am qualified to make such a strong recomendation of one over the other until I do have such an experience.

+1 for the Spartan. Easy setup and rock solid tail, what more could you ask?

It will be nice to see how the relatively new 520 holds up in a gasser. Keep the test results coming...

The 520 holds up just fine, very stable. I have it in FAI mode, so it doesn't stop the tail after a piro as fast as a Spartan at this time.

Just another crappy day in Paradise....Aloha!

The only problem I've found with the 770/8900 set up is that it's very harsh when stopping a piro. I've had to dumb it down a bit on my 600's to give a smoother stop as on stock settings the tail gear gave a loud crack when stopping it was so sharp. I'll try the Spectra with it dumbed down even more and slowly work up till I've got a good compromise.

I have not tried every gyro out there but the Spartan is way better than the out dated 611. I could not keep the nose from going to the left with the 611 i put the Spartan on and drift is gone, now i'm not going to lie it does still have a little bounce but thats because i'm still rich on needle setting. You could not give me a 611 i would buy a Spartan any day above the 611 if you try it i promise you will say the same thing. I got a Inertia 860 i'm going to try on my 700 if i can the f$$k$R cranked with out the shaft breaking in it. I will let you know how it does, but right now it's about 26f out side and thats just to damn cold for me. Buy what you like thats why they make so many, good luck.

Thanks

Im not convinced Im going to part with the 611 yet, there are an awful pile of proven flights on them, but I do like to know what results people are having with diffent gyro's.

Thanks for all the info and advice guys.

Well after Endlessly screwing with setup my tail was flying Resonably well with the gy611, never 100% satisfied, I had a solid G in a drwer and decided to give it a whirl.

I have never been so happy with the Tail. With almost no setup on the solid G it fly's Absolutely perfect. No wag, and no Drift, nice smooth pyro's.

Not sure if its a limitation with the 611, or maybe mine is defective, But that solid G Was the solution all along to my trouble, and it was just sitting in my Drawer collecting dust.
