i just put in a new furnace hamilton 98% efc 60000 btu and was wondering how hot should the air that is coming out be ? i have turned down the gas (it was for natural gas and i changed it to propane) because it sounded like a jet and would heat my house a deg. a min so it wasnt on very long at a time now it is a lot cooler and stays on longer witch i like but i was just wondering if anyone knew that the temp should be . thanks

All I can say is, I leave some things to the professionals. Messing around with the heat in a home could have catastrophic results. I'm assuming your not a (heat and air man) or you wouldn't have posted the question here. Get it wrong and you may have a silent killer (carbon monoxide) or blow up your house.

When you convert it from Nat. gas to Propane you need to change the orifice. Just turning the pressure down wont do it. On some you will need to change the gas valve as well. Get the model number and see if there is a conversion kit available or better yet, have a professional do it.

With that being said. The newer high efficiency furnaces uses more of the heat from the exhaust gases. Consequently the heat output is a lower temperature than an old inefficient furnace.

Walk on water long enough, eventually you will get your feet wet.

X2, Gotta change that Jet. My pops and I put in a gas stove and the instructions said it had the jets for Propane installed and it actually had jets for Natural Gas. Sounded like a jet and got MAD hot. Dangerous. We changed them and it worked perfect. Jets for Natural gas have a bigger ID than Propane, hense the Jet sound.

is it a w9m?
Most gas furnaces have a fan lmit that is pre determined and cannot be changed ( fan comes on when temp is reached and breaks when temp cools )
however the fan speed can be controlled.
if home is heating to quickly go to lower blower cabinet and switch lead on motor to low speed /this is done on the blower circ board.
look at the schematic on inside cover

what is the size of your house,

what is the size of the supply air ducting?
and return air duct?

it sounds to me like it needs a 40,000 btu furnace.

are you shure it is a 90% furnace? the burner section is sealed and has plastic pipe for air inlet and outlet and most are very quiet?
and has a drain line for the water

You really need to have a pro come over and check it out and make sure its set up properly. Did you check your flue gas, is it burning properly, if not your wasting money on fuel and possibly shortening the life of your furnace. Just because its putting out heat doesn't mean its working right.
