I picked up an OS c-spec pumped engine that was barely run a few years ago with a used airframe. I have yet to use the engine because I have had heard it was difficult to get running without modifications. I did a search and read alot of good things about the engine if you get a Viperhead and Cline modded carb setup. What I wasn't quite sure about was if that setup worked with just the non-pumped version of the c-spec or if it was for both. It seems to me that if you have the pumped version you shouldn't need the Cline regulator and if you have the Cline regulator you shouldn't need the pump. So I guess my question is with the pumped version of the c-spec, what do I need to get it to run well? Thanks!

watch the classifieds for an OS91HZ or the Align 91H.
You will truly be much happier with either of those, and probably spend less overall.

I would agree.
The CSPEC PS is a pain in the butt unless you are a tuning expert.
If you can find an OMI carb for it, the CSPEC is a nice smooth powerplant. But you would likely be better off getting an HZ

One of my concerns was what to do with the engine. Since it is so difficult, I figure nobody will want to buy it or I will get just about nothing for it. Should I just keep it as a nice OS paperweight and move on? I was thinking if I could get the OMI setup used maybe it would be worth it, but if it's still a problem engine even with that I wouldn't bother. Thanks for the advice I've gotten already guys. Happy New Year!

Put a drive hub on it and a 60L carb from a 50 Hyper, or a 60K from a gold head CSPEC and it makes an absolute amazing fixed wing engine.
On a large volume Bisson Pitts (like one for a TT120) it will spin a 15x4W APC up over 13 grand. Pulls a Funtana 90 around like a toy.
