I need some 8880 mAh batteries for my ION-X. Where is the best place to buy quality batteries of this size?

NASA?

I do not recall ever seeing Lipos that big. I think you will have to wire some packs in parallel to get that kind of capacity.

Yeah the original Ion-X packs were 2 5s4p 8880's. Thunderpower used to have them on their website. But the biggest they go up to now is
6660mah. Are you looking to 3D it or F3C? What motor, the original Hacker C50 with Hacker 77 ESC? If you are going to 3D it you might want to look into some 45C 5s 5000's.. A buddy of mine squeezed 6s 5000's under the canopy, after we did some other mods...

I believe it is the original Hacker motor. I don't do any aerobatics... just hovering and forward flight. I may eventually get into mild aerobatics like loops and rolls.

Actually, they were two 8880 mAh batteries wired in a series... they were made by Tanic.

I am surprised Miniature Aircraft doesn't have a link... and now that they are owned by the great guys at Heli-Proz, that H-P doesn't have any batteries that large.

The current Ion-X2 dosen't use those style packs anymore..
Look in Misskimo's gallery twards the bottom there are some video's of Ion's with smaller capacity packs on them.

The current Lipos out there really deliver up much more power than the 1st and 2nd generation ever thought about..

There is no need to buy pig packs like that any more. Just buy smaller packs and put them in series and parallel. It is easy to find 5s1p 4400packs, so just buy a pair and place them in parallel to make a 5s2p 8800 pack.

You need 2 5s1p 8800,or 4 5s 4400's, for the old ION's.

If it was me i'd get a couple 5s 5000 mah packs. It'll fly great.
Might not get 8 min flight time. Unless you are doing A/P work, you
don't really need the large Mah packs.. Back in the day you needed large mah packs because the C rating was so low.. Now with the 30C and up cells the 5000's or even 4000 would do fine.. But, it depends on what you plan on doing with the heli..
