Hi,

Will Futaba 3010s be okay for the 3 collective servos? They are 72oz at 4.8 volts and they have nylon gears. The manual states they need to be 70oz digital or analog. I also have Futaba 3050s installed in another heli that I would rather not remove as it is set up really well, they are also 72oz at 4.8 volts. The 3050s have some metal gears. Will the nylon gears in the 3010s be ok? I am not doing any 3d, just working on loops and rolls and general flying.

Thank you for any help,

Tom

I heard that the Hyperion servos were sweet and programmable at 1/2 the price. Dont know as of yet but am looking in to it.

Not an expert on the subject but I would think an influencing issue is how you intend to fly the Predator - 3D, scale, sport, photo platform? Sooner or later we all end up 3D, at least momentarily.

On my predator I ran 9350's with good luck. The did everything that I needed them to do. They are in the 130oz range if I remember correctly. I have been flying some of the newer airtronics servos but they have like 185 oz next I want to try the mks hv's as then no need for the stinking reg I am too cheap to buy the 8717. You can also get a good deal on the inolabs or the align 610 servos. For me though I would not run less than the 100 oz servos on the predator.

Forgot to mention that the stock configuration on the Predator has Push-Pull on the two aileron servos but not on the elevator servo. Since the three servos must be identical that makes the elevator servo the weak link, forcing higher specs on all three. One alternative would be to order the Push-Pull elevator upgrade kit. I read in another, older thread that the Push-Pull elevator upgrade was one of the "A List" upgrades.

Thanks for the replies guys. My Predator comes Thursday. I might go with the servos I have now at 72oz. The manual states a minimum of 70oz. I'll probably want to upgrade to one of your suggestions at some point. No 3d flying for me, I am just getting used to loops, rolls and inverted hovering.

Thanks,

Tom

I have used Futaba 3305's on my gassers with great success. Strong and cheap!
