Guys,

Thanks to everyone who has posted pics and posts about 90SG builds. They have been very helpful.

I am at stage 3-2 in the manual, and I need some advice on the clutch and fan assembly.

First, I have attached the fan to the fan hub, and it needs some balancing. I assume the best way to do this is to drill small holes on the heavy side of the black plastic fan until it balances? (just not sure I want to drill into the fan hub?)

Second - the clutch does not easily fit into the fan hub. Should I try to snad at the inside of the fan hub a little until it sits, or am I better off just putting the bolts in and cranking the clutch down on to the fan hub with the bolts?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

- Ben

I haven't built the SG yet but before you drill any holes try this, unbolt the fan, turn it 90 degrees, bolt it back up then re balance. Keep doing that until you find the position where it needs the least amount of balancing then put the clutch on, balance the whole thing, if its still off then try turning the clutch 180 degrees and see which way balances the closest. The problem with the plastic fan is you have to remove a lot of it to get it to balance, the plastic is very light so you want to try to get it to balance as best you can before removing material.

For the clutch, I would not sand anything, just put it in as best you can by hand then use some longer bolts to press it down into the hub. That's how I did my Vibe 50's, I'm sure their the same.

Perfect, thanks for the reply!

You were bang on, by rotating the assemblies I finally found a spot where they balanced with no modification required.

The clutch went in by just cranking the bolts down with no real issues.

Now...on to lining up the gears and motor mount.

Thanks again,

- Ben
