I was watching a 450 Pro build video and the presenter said something about "tie wraps shoved under the tail control rod guides"... err, say what?

I can't see anything in the manual about this, and the guides are very loose... on other helis I've just CAed them in place. What exactly am I meant to do with "tie wraps" (assume: cable ties?). Put one on each side of the guide?

Just cut a piece from a zip tie and tuck it between the boom and control rod support. Just to keep it in place that's all

Should it be tucked perpendicular to the guide (i.e. in the same direction as the boom), or wrapped around the boom under the guide?

Would be great to see a picture, if anyone has one please.

Parallel to the boom directly under the bottom of the boom. Slide it through the bottom of the guide between the boom and the guide. Get it to your tightness preference. Then cut the tie wrap on both sides of the guide. The piece of zip tie will be as wide as the thinkness of your guide so you dont see it. You can use CA to do the same thing here. This is just easier to remove I guess.

Your only looking to tighten/secure the support guide here. Other heli guides have screws in them so you dont have to do this. Like the Rave. Put the guide where you want it, tighten the little set screw and your done.

Look at the bottom of this page from a Trex 500 assembly manual...

Thanks dkshema, that's actually exactly what I did before 700E replied

Good to finally know I was doing the right thing.

i cut a real thin stip of masking tape slightly narrower than the width of the guide bracket. depending on the thickness of the tape, 1 1/2 'turns' around the boom is usually enough to make for a snug fit. just turn/twist the guide in the same direction of the tape to prevent from lifting - after a couple of attempts you can get a very tidy result.
