Thanks, that is a very clear visualization.

One mile of road will take you one mile. One mile of runway will take you anywhere in the world.

I think you are wrong, the KAOS is the compact maneuver. We should open a thread to share our own videos with those maneuveurs, for sure I would be the nº1

The illustration in the first post maintains a piroflip on the same axis. Therefore its a piroflip and not a kaos. I can't fly either manuever, but I know what they look like. I didn't know this was a post about bragging how good we fly new heliman Micolor. I thought it was to help people see the manuever slowed down.

the KAOS is the compact maneuver.
A chaos need not be 'compact' although it looks best this way.

A piroflip flips on one axis (parallel to the ground), usually perpendicular to the pilot. A chaos' flip axis rotates, at whatever rate pleases he who's flipping.

The last 'tube posted is in fact a chaos, although not very compact.

I cant tell any difference, as far as i can see kaos and piroflip is the same thing, the heli flips over with the tail spinning in sync.

A piroflip looks like a pizza held at two opposite edges while you twirl it towards you or away from you. The axis of the twirl doesn't move.

A chaos (to someone standing off to the side) looks like you're doing the same thing -- while also standing on a turntable while it slowly turns.

Ok I think I see sort of, so piroflip is stationary where Kaos is pirofliping and moveing around more.

During a piroflip, the heli pivots (rotates) simultaneously around two out of the three possible axis -- yaw and roll

During a chaos, the heli pivots (rotates) simultaneously around all three of the three possible axis -- pitch, yaw and roll

During both piroflips and chaos -- because of the pirouetting (around the yaw axis), the flipping and rolling that's occurring is being continually traded off one for the other -- so it's yawing while rolling/pitching/rolling/pitching etc, hence the need to 'stir' the cyclic stick during those maneuvers.

Think of it this way.

Say a piro flip begins with the tail facing you and ends with the tail facing you and always begins and ends this way.

A kaos begins with the tail facing you but ends with the tail in another position, IE; facing to your left. And each time the tail begins and ends in a different orientation there by changing the axis of rotation.

In the OP animation, the cyclic goes to each point on the "compass" at a rate pretty close to a second per point.

One thousand - top
two thousand - right
three thousand - bottom
four thousand - left

What would be the corresponding piro rate to achieve this move? 360 degrees in 4 seconds, 2 seconds?

I keep trying this on the sim, but can never get it. My heli just kinda flops around.

Ask your doctor if your heart is healthy enough for Radio Control Helicoptering.

Why is the OP grayed out and lined out?
