The DX7 is much smaller than that one.

That's easy, dx7! A lot more receiver choices for a lot less money! You will nevet regret buying the spektrum! I used to fly strickly futaba, but now all I have is jr9303 and dx7,love both of them!

One good reason to have a DSM2 TX is all the BNF aircraft that Horizon is producing. I don't think you need to make a DSM2 TX your primary TX, lots of good choices there (Hitec and Airtronics both make great products from what I see) but I will have a DSM2 TX for the forseeable future. Can't wait to get my 4-site.

I have had both 2.4G systems. The biggest single factor for me picking one over the other is model match. With Spektrum, you can never take off with the wrong model memory selected. It has saved me a couple times and that makes it worth it's weight in gold! Futaba has a few features I have begged JR/Spektrum to do but so far hasn't happened.

why's that?
mainly because of programming limitations.

i previously had a 10X, which i loved, but i ended up getting a good deal on a used DX7, and because of all the raves about it, like a sucker, i went for it.

I havnt been happy with it since the day i got it. Its like a huge down grade in the hobby for me. Having the 10X stolen by a kind fellow RR member didn't exactly give me many more options. And to find that all the ranting and raving about performance and response increase turned out to be absolutely nothing for me. I noticed better tail response, but that was it.

for the most part, 7 channels is fine for me, but its the programming limitations i dont like. I never had that with the 10X.

But after this summer, getting my hands on programming a Futaba 12FG got my mouth watering.

Hopefully by the new flying season, i will have a Futaba 10CG.

Of course i could go with a JR 9303 spectrum radio, and keep all my receivers. But it still is not as flexible as the 10CG.

IMO, if your starting out in the hobby, DX7 is the way to go though. it does the bare essentials, and relatively easy to program. While the Futaba systems need a little more thinking, the logic around the programming is a bit different.
