I've gone through 3 main shafts with out even flying this bird. I've upgraded the dampers to the KBDD orange.

Every time i spin up the bird i get a lot of head shake. Then when I power it down it shakes violently as it slows down.

What could be the cause of this?

Blade bolts too tight
thrust bearings in blade grips backwards

otherwise look for an imbalanced head caused by the flybar being off centre, flybar paddles not the same weight...

I don't think the main shafts are your issue. Are you powering up slowly? Take a video

I reassembled the head per the manual, but I'll double check the bearings.

I've verified the paddles are equidistant! I'll swap them out to some carbon paddles. I'll double check the flybar being centered.

I can't take a video, as I won't try it again. It shakes so bad i thought it was going to tip over or cause a boom strike!

Again, everything happens when it's on the ground.

odin shake

make sure your main blades are not to tight. This will definatly cause a shake.
you can also check and make sure your a shim hasnt been left out. and the head dampners are installed properly..

What is your throttle and pitch curve? I guess this might be one of the issue!!!

Just check it.

He said it's happening on the ground, doubt curves are an issue.

Are you doing this in the grass or on pavement? Odin will sometimes get a bad shake on a hard surface.

It's on pavement.

Not sure why the pitch and throttle curves has anything to do with it? But I have it in normal mode with a linear curve. I never get a chance to put it in the air for idle up.

Again the shakes are so bad that it bends the main shaft

I don't have any more main shafts to test this. But I don't understand how this theory would explain the violent shakes during spool down?

I have been flying an Odin for over a year and don't land on a hard surface for this reason. It will shake sometimes so bad it will pop links off and the mains will hit the boom. Tight blades or loose still does it.I run the green dampeners and like the way it flys with them.

I'll give that a try when I get more main shafts.

I had the same thing happened to me. Then I put throttle curve up to 70% at middle stick and reduced pitch curve from 4 at middle stick to 3. All that shakings were gone, I still wonder what was the real cuase. But it seems to me that as the hi-pitch blades turned slowly with such low power input leading to really hard shakings and links popping out, especially the double links.

It may not be right but it resolved my problem.

Patrick

PS: I also had this problem on the ground when about to land and cut off power. With high power hovering, no shakings.

Odins do shake on spool up and down. Not sure why but they do. have tried many dampeners, and bearing setups. Nothing helps.

Dx7 With Ion Power Supply. Why use anything else.

I've upgraded the dampers to the KBDD orange.
Have you lubricated the dampers with silicon grease when you intall them inside the head? You also need to lubricate the spindle with the same silicon grease.

Problem Solved

I never root caused the issue but i did the following and the problem has disappeared

Replaced:
Flybar
Swapped paddles with CF
New main shaft.

I ordered 2 sets of shafts for amain hobbies. ( 1 set solid and 1 set hollow). I wasn't aware they came is a solid version, but i'm glad they do!
