Not necessarily better, but better if flying outdoors, because of a little extra weight. If you have to do metal I would go no futher than metal blade grips.

Coming out of heli retirement...

Broke my plastic swash plate balls and picked up a microheli aluminum swash. Just got done installing it and flying. Don't like it seem like I lost cyclitic authority and it bends very easy.

I'm new here and have been flying the MSR for a month now. I love it. I just added the CNC parts from Micro Heli and It has what I heard is the toilet bowl effect. I've check all the links and eveything is moving freely. Swash plate is level and the Heli will take off great. When I add a little cyclic it starts to get out of control and rotates around the room tail down and to the left. I've tried to trim it out with no luck. Any sugustions would be great.

try removing one piece at a time and trying it with the stock piece.

I would start with the blade grips. That's most likely the problem.

Where did you put brass washers? Could the links be bad. I put all the stock parts back on and it's still a hand full to fly.

the brass washer go between the head and the blade grips if you don't have them then you need to get them they come in the stock heli. they go out side the O ring.

I put the MH Swash on the mCX and it ROCKS !!
Quite-a-bit more throw(s) with the (slightly) longer swash-arms so, plenty-of speed in FF and I'm still getting good-speed in reverse-flight

The Aluminum is kinda'-soft (for some of the MH Upgrades on these 2), I had the swash-arms bend-slightly on me as well (mCX, when re-attaching the servo-link)
Just-finished the mSR, the links are kinda'-tight on the metal ball-links (CNC Blade-grips) so may need to do some re-sizing.
This may be the cause for the "toilet-bowl effect", if the Flybar isn't just flopping-around (nice-n-loose, like it was when "stock" ) try to free-it-up.

I had the same problem with the MH grips. The balls are a tad to tight and cause binding and TBE. I didnt feel like messing with it, so just put the stock grips back on.

Update;
I finally got rid-of the cursid-TBE
Make-sure that the brass-washers/shims don't cause any-binding of the MH Main Blade-grip assembly. I had to carefully sand-down the thickness' of each-shim to get the desired-clearence needed. I used an older-piece of 1600-grit wet-sand paper and my index-finger to "work" the shim against the paper. Once you get the Blade-grip assembly to move-freely on the Feathering-shaft and NO-Binding of the Flybar it works-beautifully

I hope everything goes well for me. I just ordered all the MicroHeli upgrades except for the swashplate.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

I did see that someone was having some-trouble with the MH CNC'd Metal Main-frame and the "stock" E-flite Boom, sounded-like the Boom was a little-small in diameter and fit "loosely" in the MH Main-frame.

Chopper_Crazy I would order the swash plate. It works great and the cyclic movements are crisp.
