Well I have been waiting to get a used TREX 250 but got a clone as it was much cheaper. I have heard pros and cons about the quality for both so figured I would try he cheap route. I have hovered about 10 times around the house and love the little heli. Unfortunately I had to kind of guess the pitch angle as I dont have a gauge to fit the narrow chord blades I put a piece of foam in it to make up the differnce.

Now my big question is I cant get the blades to track as soon as I get to hover speed the blades separate and no adjusting of the pitch links will fix it. Can I assume being used the head dampeners are shot I have disassembled and reassembled the head and it seems fine feathering shaft and all no slop in grips. Although the dampeners are pretty mushy like silicone fuel tubing. Cant imagine them doing much good but would it be affecting tracking like this?

Oh and I am using the Align blades on it and they seem pretty true.

I may end up buying the real thing if I enjoy this one as much as I think I am going to. But this was a good cheap way to find out.

The first batch of GT's had the wrong size bearings on the inner part of the blade grips (0.5mm too big). Check them, this would cause exactly what you are saying.

Other known issues are they have very weak spindle shafts, poor quality tail belts, sloppy tail slider ball, and the see saw has bushings where it bolts to the head instead of bearings. The newer ones have a tighter slider ball and the main grip bearing are correct.

With a little fixing the GT is a really good value, it has alot more aluminum than the Align and I like the frames better, they are thinner and lighter but seem as strong as the Align ones.

I have one Trex250 and 3 GT's and like the GT as it's Turnigy motor is bigger and higher kV than the Align motor and other wise fly the same. I have had a few other quality issues that were oddities and one kit was missing a part (even Aligns have a missing part now and then). Over all a great value though an Align is still better over all quality.

Thanks Evan after closer inspection I did find that one blade grip was ever so slightly more loose than the other. I grabbed the heli by the button head and could see it move under good light. I will be ordering all new bearings. I have been looking at Hobbyking hong kong dealer is there a better place or are these a common bearing that can be bought in a RC car shop? I ask cause nearest RC heli shop is 2 1/2 hr drive one way. Or will order from horizon but hobbyking bearings $1.37 and align $3.99 probably from the same bin.

I did stumble across some of the other weaknesses looking it over the belt is cheesy I have an align belt, a whole new tailcase with junk belt and a tail rotor control arm and landing gear on order. Going over the heli leveling it all up I had the flybar cage stick that must be the bushings I turned it upside down and hit it with 100% silicone spray and all is good.

Oh something I was wondering I dont like the GT bottoplate/landing gear combo. Will the align bottom plate bolt up to use the seperate align gear the align looks stronger anyway.

thanks for the tips.

The Align bearings do look to be better quality. I replaced mine with Align T250 ones for the grips and seesaw.

Not sure about the bottom plate. I'll measure them tomorrow to see.

The Align bottom plate and landing gear are an identical match and bolt on without a hitch.

I would also recommend replacing the dampners with the Aligns ones to tighten up the feathing spindle.
