For me to graciously exit the heli part of the hobby and focus more on planks. I know that's blasphemy around these parts, but I just can't get over the fact that when I was just flying planes, I was having so much fun. With helis, I still enjoy flying them, it's just that I don't have the desire to go the field as much it seems. I haven't flown my Knight since January of 09 and frankly, don't really care if I ever fly it again. I do enjoy the indoor electrics (CX and MCX) but for some reason, I just don't have the desire to fly my nitro bird. Maybe I'm just burnt out or something, but this has lasted now for well over a year.

I think my problem was, I was so focused on getting better at flying my heli, I forgot to have fun with it. I don't think it's the fear of crashing issue either, as I have tons of spares and could probably build two more birds just from the parts I have. I also think it has something to do with the maintenance required on them compared to planks. There's just something relaxing about seeing my cap or decathlon taxiing down the runway graciously entering the sky and just putting around.

I dunno, maybe I'm just in a funk is all. I wish it would go away however as I really do want to get to the field and fly, just not with my Knight.

Thanks for listening to me vent/reflect.

Have fun with your planes nothing wrong with flying them. I will never stop flying my planes. I will give up the heli first.

Derek,

No need to exit. Do both!

I bring both whenever I go to the field now, and don't always fly both, but they're there.

I love the part of practicing really hard IMAC, then going for a 'tension reliever' with the 600 nitro.

Best part of the hobby for me is diversity. Aerobatics and scale airplanes, electric and nitro helis.

Do what makes you happy, and if anyone gives you a hard time then they are not a friend. I really hate it when I see plane people raging on heli people or heli people raging on plane people. It is just more prejudice brought on that is not needed. I have both and will always fly both.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

I'm kinda the opposite, now I just really want to fly my helis. I still bring at least one plane to the field as well as my helis. Most days I only fly the plane once when I get there, the rest of the time is spent flying the helis.

Don't give it up, one day you would probably be wishing you still had it. Like the others said, just bring it with you and fly it once. Might just spark your interest up enough to stay with it, even if you don't fly it much.

That makes two of us. I don't really understand how the two can really put down one another. To me my planes are just so more relaxing. I loose the "pucker factor" with a plane.

This is supposed to be fun. The second this stops being fun for me, you'll see all my gear on ebay. This hobby is too damned expensive to do otherwise.

eBay will just upset you more, let me know when you want to get rid of everything and I will send over a pre-paid crate.

I'm a wide variety guy

I always take a selection depending on the mood I'm in, and the weather. High wind, no wind, bad mood, good mood, hassle, no hassle, fun or just plane stupid.

One thing I've really noticed, when you jump around with a wide variety, motor, fuel's speed's channel's ect. -- your skill's just get better ! OR they can be disastrous! if you forget your flying a Heli and your hand's think their flying a plane!
