Hello

Has anyone tried Supercharger on a helicopter?
If so, whether it increases the power of the engine.

There is a link showing it on the helicopter. But could not find if anyone tried it .

That sounds neat - looks like a good project for my gear head buddy and something to do with the OS50 after getting a 55

At least not on our 2 stroke piston ported engines.

Tried it on my T-maxx truck. It doesn't work. It was impossible to tune it.

My T-maxx would run with it installed. It didn't seem to have more power. It would reach a certain mid-range RPM and go super lean 30,000 RPM instantly. A good way to destroy an engine. I could never get it tuned. I have been running nitro 2-stroke since 1979.

The device in the OP's link is a belt driven supercharger, while the device in the video is an exhaust gas driven turbocharger.

Nice catch Jrock, big difference and with the turbo version I would assume there is no lag since the engine get's going pretty good before lift-off under normal circumstances etc...

It doesn't work +1

There has been a thread or two about why you can't build pressure in the intake side of a piston ported 2 stroke engine

There was speculation that the turbo in the video was a keychain and was not even hooked to the carb. They do sell some neat little turbo keychains with moving impellers.

The biggest reason being that the intake port and exhaust port are open at the same time.

I understand what you explain.
But how do you explain that it works on the engines of cars r/c that are 2-stroke

Tried to dig around a little more to find info on this - not saying it works or it doesn't but here is another vid of the same heli being tested. He claims full negative on the collective to get the idle up

It doesnt

I have a 4 stroke YS engine with a supercharger. That works very well.

This looks cool.
