Hi there !!

I have just purchased the logo 500 3d and with it I have a kontronik jive 100lv, The motor I got wasn't exactly what I set out to get but the chap at the lhs was very knowledgeable and came up with this motor instead.
I set out to get a scorpion 4020 1100kv,

I finally bought a scorpion 4020 910kv 17 tooth pinion.

All in all I think it will work well, but would like your opinions.

I only fly sport aerobatics loops rolls and flips and I am trying to get into some of the more aggressive moves but not really there yet. I will be using a 5000mah lipo and I am hoping for reasonable flight times of about 6 to 7 mins.

I went for the lower kv as it gave a good head speed of around 2000 on the 17 tooth pinion, as I don't really like the screaming 3d headspeeds that some fly with, plus my club is full of worried plank flyers so a slightly less aggressive headspeed is in order.

Will this setup be ok for my style and expectations,

Any help is good help and I appreciate all the pointers in my other posts on this forum

Good luck

Thanks thats the type of blade I was going to use.

My next question is about pinions.

How on earth do you identify which type of main gear you have in the 5003d kit, I can't find a part number or tooth count on it.

The pinion I have I think is the wrong one, For a start it is 6 mm and the motor shaft is I think 5mm, so I will have to take this one back and change it.

But what type of MOD is the main gear then I can get the correct one?

Good luck

I thought there may be another way, most gear manufacturers stamp the gear with the tooth count, I guess I will have to count them then.
Bit of a difficult method of ID on large gear though thought Germans were more efficient than this

Good luck

if the kit came with only 1 main gear it is a 0.7, think they have stopped to put the 0.5 in the kit and mod 1 is option

i started with nothing and still got most of it left

If it's a new kit it only comes with a mod 7 153T gear. Older 500 kits came with both mod .5 and mod .7 gears.

There are 153 teeth on my herringbone main gear, would I be right in saying that I had a 153 mod 0.7?

Scorpion 4020 and LOGO 500 153 Mod .7 Gearing

Hi All,

it looks like many have selected similar components for their LOGO 500 as myself. My Logo is new so has 153/Mod .7 gearing. The 4020 is a natural choice as it is intented for this Heli. My electrics arrived today and the problem i've spotted is the 4020 has a 5mm shaft and the .7 pinions a 6mm diameter. There doesn't appear to be a 6mm 4020 shaft available. How have others fixed this issue?

thanks

Gary

There is a correct pinion for that motor, I know because the pinion I was originally given was a 6-mm pinion. Mikado do a 5-mm series as well.
This will fix your problem and get you going.

The mikado number for my 5-mm pinion is 04217 (17 tooth) I would imagine the correct number for a 15 tooth pinion would be 04215

Good luck

For the 4020-1100 you will need either of these pinions. All are 5mm bore.

MIK4214 - 14T Mod.7 5mm bore
MIK4215 - 15T Mod.7 5mm bore
MIK4216 - 16T Mod.7 5mm bore

Hi,

thanks for the quick response. Having spotted my error, I'd originally looked for either a 5mm pinion or a 6mm shaft but found neither hence my post. However your reply highlighted that the 5mm pinion does exist and I've just found one on a US web site so now I need to see where I can get one in the UK.

thanks

Gary
