It is not unusual around here to have cars three abreast all going 55 when the speed limit is 65
I call that holding hands....

At least in the state of Nevada....the lanes are numbered 1,2,3 etc.
IF you are driving in the #1 lane (far left) and if you are driving the the posted speed limit, you are in no obligation to move over. If you wanna speed, you have to go around.
The exception is if it is posted to always run in the far right lane.

This isnt Europe, or anywhere else, so don't even bring that up as to there laws or ways of driving.
Here's just one clip from the nevada state driving handbook, perhaps you should read the rest, then learn the difference between right and left lanes.
Freeways have several lanes in each direction. On these
roads, you should leave the extreme left lane for faster
traffi c. Remember, lane hopping is always dangerous,
annoys other drivers, increases the risk of accidents and
seldom saves time.

What pisses me off is when you are in the left lane passing someone (doing the speed limit) and there is a jerk riding your a$$ who gets pissed at you 'cause your in his way.

If people are in that much of a hurry, LEAVE EARLIER!

I have all three driving books on the desk here, Commercial, motorcycle and passenger car.
As well as the NSRS books for police traffic law.

Faster traffic? I have to yield so you can speed? Maybe pull to the side so you can run a red light...

IF your doing the limit, there is no law that say you have to yield for a speeding car. I dont think you will find otherwise. The one exception is and emergency vehicle, in which you have to yeild to one with the lights on.

Yeah sure, if your putting along at 50, you better be over to the right. As annoying as it is, when you have to be somewhere and need to cruise a little faster than posted, nobody has to get out of your way.

Well said.

Technically. However, posted limit is the fastest you can run.

The point of my ranting is there is no "law" that says a car driving the speed limit has to move for a speeding car. Yes it is PITA, but deal with it, and move around them.

I agree with that, even if you're going below the speed limit. The left lane is the passing lane. If you're going under the speed limit, but still passing people, you're in the right place.

I have a half hour drive home on a good day,let alone when it is snowing out!

Why would I be in a hurry to get home to a bunch of screaming kids and nagging wife?

My 30 minute drive home is spent listening to music and calming down from a hard day's work.

I laugh at the idiots driving by at 80 mph, they must not be married with children!!

Ha ha. There has been many times I was NOT in a hurry to get home. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but sometimes they just drive me nutz. Oh, did I mention my two kids, and my dog are all female?

And that's exactly the problem with people in this country today. They don't give a damn about anyone else. When I'm on the highway I usually get up to the speed limit, set the cruise control, and go where I have to. Unless I'm passing I stay my ass in the right lane like you're supposed to. Why do I do this? It's called courtesy.

If there's someone running late for work bc they had a rough morning, a kid that's running late for a test, or anyone that has to be somewhere important and is running late or it's an emergency, why be an a$$hole and block the fast lane bc "you're going the speed limit and you deserve to be there." If you're not passing anyone, get the hell over.

There's way to many idiots around these days. Show some courtesy for others.

All you a holes that hog the fast lane doing the speed limit are nut cases. You are asking for someone to send you a message that you may not be comfortable with.

Wait... does that make me a nut case?

Flip on your windshield wash, the over spray will fog his window. If he has no washer fluid it will smear when he hits his windshield wipers.

Gimme a break. Speeding isnt going to help your time situation. It does however endanger the rest of us, just as much a me putting along in whatever lane i want. Speed is more of a crash factor and i think you will even agree to that.
People used to wave others in, Use the blinkers, and dim the headlights, and give a wave of thanks as they took the lane in front of you. Now, most people, like you, just wanna speed along and get there.

I dont care what you do. If you dont like my driving, like i most likely dont yours, then go around. Americans suck at driving anyway. It might be the home of the auto, but other countrys have us whipped.

My only point is, there is no legal right for me to get out of your way, as long as i am doing the limit. It may be poor driving, but the aspect that people have adopted of having to, burns my a$$. Your reference of "fast lane" proves the point. There is no fast or slow lane. When i got my commercial, they were called thru or travel lane and merge lane.

So if you see my big red gass guzzlin truck in your way, drive around and gimme me the finger. I'll smile and wave at you.

I drive for a living so I see it everyday. People speeding, winding through traffic. I usually catch up with them at the next light. Their speeding got them nowhere. Unless they run the redlights, but that's another topic. I know it's not about which lane you're in on the highway but it is the same mentality.

If you are driving like you are supposed to, dirving the speed limit that is, there would not be any problems. I do agree with one already mentioned, the slow dirvers are just as dangerous. One of the stupidest things I've seen is the 55 MPH limits for trucks while cars can go 70 in Michigan. I might be a little off on the numbers. Imagine pulling 80,000 pounds up and down those hills TRYING to go 55. If you can get that fast you are usually slowed down trying to go up the next hill. Talking about being dangerous. Now if they would raise the limit to 60 for trucks it would be a lot smoother because you could maintain you speed better.
