If your driving on an interstate/highway/freeway, with more than one lane and you are in the left lane, there is no one in front of you or there is a large gap to the car in front of you, that you are not closing on and there is a car behind you:
PULL YOUR A$$ OVER INTO THE RIGHT LANE!

Down under it is called right lane-itis as we drive on the other side of the road.

Very annoying alright. And them dumbasses can't read either as there are signs posted everywhere "keep left unless overtaking"!!

Man, I wish everyone would read this forum/thread. Ticks me off... ALSO, the people who think that they need to use the carpool lane just because they have a passenger or a 3yr old in the car, going 60 in a 65... Move over.

It's amazing they don't realize they're doing anything wrong, another reason there should be some kind of recurrent testing for a drivers license. I guess over time people forget stuff as simple as knowing the difference between the lanes.

Often they are having an important phone conversation.

Sometimes I flash my high beams. Often works.

If that doesn't work I get around them and give them some fresh air.

Along with a little beep...

If they are on the phone I turn on my secret gadget and walla... they pull the phone from their ear, look at it, then put it away.

I never get mad.... I just get even.

I don't get worked up over it. I have more important things to worry about than the 4 seconds I was delayed. Besides, if they are going the speed limit, you can't do much about it anyway. Sometimes there is a left turn coming up that they are taking (very common in my area) and they are doing the right thing by positioning for the turn. I always wonder why people need to climb up my ass when I am making a left turn off the highway when they can just get in the right lane. It's okay to pass on the right in these situations people, it even says so in the driver training book everyone seems to forget about.

Plus, I really don't care if you are in a hurry and exceeding the speed limit. You are stupid, your wasting gas, endangering everyone else on the highway, and you are only saving 1 minute by speeding in the first place. So yeah, stay on the right, go the speed limit but Jesus Christ, if this is something that gets you worked up, it's time to review your priorities.

I hear you Jason. Like I said, I don't get mad. If it's a long open highway and I can get around, I just go around. If they are causing a traffic jam, that's a different story.

Turning

How about the ones that pull into a turning lane and act like they're pulling a 53 foot trailer....swing wide into your lane to make the turn....had to slam on my brakes many of times for that one.

A long open highway in Idaho with someone camping out in the left is one thing, commuting during rush hour in the North East (CT and NY) is a different story. It causes problems because it upsets the flow of traffic by making it difficult to change lanes and merge. It is not unusual around here to have cars three abreast all going 55 when the speed limit is 65. When that causes people to have to slam on the brakes on the Interstate to avoid merging traffic that is a problem. In my eyes, that is much more dangerous than someone speeding. It also eliminates your escape routes because you are completely boxed in.

I like your style Hootowl. Many times when I'm in my 01 Dodge Dully I have gotten somebody that just wants to play Nascar and ride my Arse. The truck has a Comp Edge box so I just reach down and select level 5 (wide open) on the box, then just ease down on the pedal and let the good times roll (black smoke). They get the message and back off real quick.

What most people do not understand is that the left lane on a highway is the passing lane, so if you are not passing someone then you should not be in it. Also if cars are passing you on the right it is a ticketable offense to be in the left lane. Show some courtesy and get over. Stop thinking about yourself.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

My niece went to drivers ed a couple years ago in Southern Wisconsin. Her instructor taught that you should only be in the right lane if you are going under the speed limit ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

At least in the state of Nevada....the lanes are numbered 1,2,3 etc.
IF you are driving in the #1 lane (far left) and if you are driving the the posted speed limit, you are in no obligation to move over. If you wanna speed, you have to go around.
The exception is if it is posted to always run in the far right lane.

This isnt Europe, or anywhere else, so don't even bring that up as to there laws or ways of driving.
