I'm looking to try a new gyro on a new 90 machine that I'm getting ready to build.

First question: Futaba GY520 or Spartan?

Second: Futaba 9256 or Futaba BLS251?

Final question: What is the different between the Spartan ds760 and the Spartan Quark?

BLS251 is essentially the brushless version of the 9256. so, BLS251.

difference between the quark and 760 is just size/weight once the firmware is updated.

the 520 is s-bus, if you think that might be an issue. i think i remember the spartans being s-bus ready...just not sure. something to consider though.

someone else needs to answer the other ???s.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Futaba gyros just "feel" better, and this is from a non sponsored point of view. Stops are more reassuring, and both have the same piro performance. BLS251 is also noticeably more solid than the 9256. If you have the cash, go for it.

i have the same set up on my N9 and i cant say the same about it?? IMO the GY-611 w/ 9246 that i had on a 700 and 2 x-spec freyas felt more solid.

maybe my setting for the sparten isnt correct?

I run the Sparten 760 with a BLS251 tail servo on my 700, the performance is outstanding, probably the best combo I have ever had, the thing is rock solid.

I have not ran a lot of different gyros in direct comparison (direct comparison meeting different gyros on on the same heli) but have used the Align, 611, 401 and a few others I cant remember, on a few different helicopters and so far I liked the way the Sparten feels and the way it sets up better than anything else I have tried. Please realize this is only my opinion and I think a good gyro is what feels good to you.
