Assuming I have the top of the line electronics and motor and pipe combo, where do I go next, what are the best upgrades for the Vibe 50? And by best upgrades I mean aftermarket parts that fill a void in production parts quality, something that might save me from a flight failure or something that will make the heli perform noticeably better.

After about 10 crashes I only broke one CNC end but lucky the stocks end fit perfectly

They are so though that I've saved about two or three torque tubes.

Fuel. It doesn't need anything.

Paddles and tail blades will improve performance. Replace the tail control wire and plastic guides that always seem to come undone on mine and replace it with a solid CF rod and single, one piece guide. (I did this mod with Synergy parts if memory serves, I got the idea from a post on here).

Just put a tab of silicon sealant (I prefer this over CA) on the plastic guides - they will stick to the boom.

what paddles are you all flying, i tried the stubz with and without weights and did not like them, i tried the Align CF paddles which seem to be okay but I'm still not completely happy, how are the stock paddles, or should i try any other paddles? I already switched to the KBDD t/r blades

I used the stockers for a long time (w/o weights).

Switched to KBDD paddles in the front hole and like them a lot. Good cyclic speed and excellent tracking.

i prefered the Align white carbon paddles on my Vibes.

also really liked the HyperGrips expensive but added even more blade diameter as its wider than stock.

Hi,

To answer your exact question, I would get a set of nice damers (I use the Hyperdampers) and a set of tail blades 85mm to 92mm max (I use RotorTech 87mm CF ones).

Anything other than that is pretty much a cosmetic upgrade.

I've done almost every upgrade available... Pics are in my gallery, but most of them don't make my heli fly any better than a stock Vibe 50.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
G

vibe, who makes the hyperdampers, my stock ones are gettin loose, sounds like a decent upgrade, I'm flying the kbdd 82mm plastic t/r blades, I'm going to give them a try before I go back to CF t/r blades

Decent tail blades and a case or two of fuel are about the only thing the Vibe really "needs" but I put the hyper dampeners on mine and like them a lot. Flying stock paddles with no weights.

just 3 little letters........

F B L !!!

Most useful upgrade I put on my Vibe ! Flip rate faster than the quickest paddles I could find......stable as a trainer at center stick in a hover or VERY Fast Fwd Flight. Flies like an arrow no matter how fast I go....no ballooning whatsoever.

Before you put FBL on the Vibe:
1) Fly it as is
2) Try someone else's FBL. Doesn't have to be a Vibe... all FBL pretty much fly the same except for power. Plus, everyone who just sunk $550 into electronics and a head conversion are OF COURSE going to says it's the duck's nutz cause it's theirs... you need to try one w/o the halo effect and see what you really think.

I have a mini-V FBL Protos which is a blast to fly, but I still prefer the Vibe feel... you feel more connected than you do with FBL. I have also flown a friend's FBL TRex 700. I feel like I'm flying a computer. Also, FBL requires some re-learn of timing for quick maneuvers.

I loved my Hyperformance grips on my Vibe 50. Super sexy!

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

ALL FBL ??? By your own account you've flown 2 !

A little bitter ??? Someone didn't get what they wanted under the xmas tree !

For the record, I flew my Vibe for a season before converting it and I've flown it another season since. Adding the FBL is a definite improvement. Yes, there is a little different feel to FBL. The rotorhead has less spinning mass so things like autos are a little different. Quick moves are not. Sounds like a config issue on the 700 you tried. If you take some of the settings too high it can start feeling computer-like.....so don't do it unless you like it that way. By the same token, you can make the settings so low that it just replaces the flybar but doesn't improve performance. WHY would you want that? You just spent $500 to make it fly better!
Now comparing how a larger heli flys ( FBL or not ) to a Protos ? Gimme a break.

If FBL didn't make me happy, I'd sell it. It's not like I'm stuck with it.
