My woman dragged me to see the movie.

Previews looked lame and I was tired off people saying go see it.

I didn't want to see giant blue smurfs running around, although the females do look nice

I was surprised.

If you go into that movie with no expectations, you'll be impressed.

Visually, the movie sucks you in.

The whole environment they created is amazing. You feel like your there with all the characters.

I didn't think much of the acting.

This is a moral movie.

I think the director got his point and feel across.

"Cameron described the film as a hybrid with a full live-action shoot in combination with computer-generated characters and live environments. "Ideally at the end of the day the audience has no idea which they’re looking at," Cameron said."

"actors wore individually made skull caps with a tiny camera attached, located in front of the actors' faces, which collects information about their facial expressions and eyes, which is then transmitted to the computers. According to Cameron, the method allows the filmmakers to transfer about 95% of the actors' performances to their digital counterparts."

... But honey it was only $$$

I agree with you guys. i was not too keen on seeing this movie at the beginning. The movies make it looks like a cheesy cartoony action movie.

but i found it to be neither. I agree the theme of it is kinda classic, but it was really REALLY well done. CG was flawless!

It was well worth it. Its a long movie, but there are not really any slow spots.

Saw it last night. Very good movie. It didn't really feel like a CG type of movie at all.

Mandy and I Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I get the comparison to Dances with Wolves, but we both thought it was much closer to The Last Samurai - which is far more intertaining than Dances... (in our opinion... )

Either way though, we don't go to the movies often, and we both came away entertained, and feeling it was money well spent.

Oh - whoever is responsible for the previews should be fired, they suck, and don't do the movie justice.

Go and enjoy.

Agreed.
Story line sucked, was way to predictable. But great graphics.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

hey
agree with a lot of what has been said on here. I've seen it 3 times and probably will see it once more before it leaves theatres...it is going to suck when you can no longer see it in 3D and on a massive screen...that's why i'm taking advantage...

again....visually breath-taking and i thought the story was good. sure you can always compare it to other movies, and people will always do that....but i thought it was well told. the script was not awesome but not weak enough to stand out and detract from the movie

Neytiri (Zoe) better get multiple awards for this one...she nailed it and i think really took her character to heart....amazing

Thanks

you will again some day, not too long from now most likely.

there are already affordable polarized LCD displays on the market which use the same type of 3D technology these 3D movies are using.

It is just a matter of getting the monitor, and the movie itself available in 3D to the public.

How come in one of the first scenes, the arrows bounce off the windscreens, but later on in the final battle, they pierce the windscreen and impale the pilots?
Physics. In the earlier part, they were firing the arrows up at stationary aircraft. The arrows lost energy through gravity and distance. Plus they were mostly impacting the metal surfaces. Later, the aircraft were moving forward, and the natives were also moving forward towards the aircraft, increasing the energy and penetrative force of the arrows. Also, the arrows were being fired down onto the windscreens at right angles to the surface.

I just saw the movie with the wife, it was as awesome as I thought it would be. I could give two fat farts if it had a Dances With Wolves-ish storyline, I got to forget about the crap outside the theater for two hours and forty minutes. The movie did exactly what it was supposed to: Entertain.

Come to think of it...it sure did have that save the forest before the humans destroy it theme...

I truly loved it though. Had to see it in IMAX 3D and was blown away by the graphics... I think im going to see it again...

I took my 13 year old son, we both liked it. Going in I didnt realize how long the movie was, I was suprised what time it was when I got out. It did not seem like a nearly 3 hour movie.

Alot of people are commenting on how awsome the 3D is, we saw it in 3D as well but we were in the 2nd row from the front looking up at the screen. I was not impressed with the 3D at all, It looked fuzzy to me. Not sure if it was where I was seated, the theater or me.

We were seated about halfway back in audience and about eye level with screen.
It was a sharp picture for me in 3D, about made me quizy a few times, I have this fear of heights thing.
Tried looking at movie without the 3D glasses on and it was fuzzy then.

It was a ok movie, the effects were cool, but nothing astonishing. I hated the whole homevideo camera quick zoom in they used a lot. The story was ok, very predictable which kinda was meh. Would've rather rented it and then see it on my plasma and saved the money I spent on the theatre.

I would say, save the money for the movie and watch it on your flat screen. Saves the farts from the stranger next to you, better picture quality with blu ray (more vibrant/sharper) and keep an extra $10+ per person in your pocket.

it isnt dances with wolfs, or pocahontas, or ferngully...its actually Smirfs on Steroids!

me too, i got stuck a bit closer then i would have liked and wasn't feeling too hot a few times. But i also didn't want to miss anything, lol. If you just close one eye, then you will see the movie in 2D and takes some of the eye strain away.

I still think they need to perfect the whole 3D thing a little bit. a lot of times i find myself naturally trying to focus on something that is out of focus, and what appears to be much closer to me then the objects in focus further back. Kinda messes me up a bit, and likely the cause of some of the eye strain/headaches.
