HI,

I have many packs of 6S 4000-5500 for my 90 size heli and would like to use them on a smaller machine.
I know the 500 works great on 6S but how is the 500se ?
Should I go with the 500 or 500se ?

Thanks,
Roei

If you're used to the performance of a .90 nitro, then swinging 600mm blades on 6S with the 500SE, will probably disappoint you. The 500SE on 6S is a great machine for intermediate level pilots doing aerobatics and mild 3D. On 8S it becomes fully 3D capable.

However, the Logo 500 swinging 550/560mm blades on 6S can 3D with authority.

It all depends on you're flying abilities and/or style. That's why Mikado makes both. So we have choices to fit our individual abilities, styles, and budgets (i.e. battery costs).

I've done quite a bit of testing this summer on the 500 "se" on 6s, lots of different power systems and the best batteries you can get your hands on right now.
On 6s, it flies harder, and longer, on 560mm blades.
The only thing it does better on 600mm blades is autorotations.

Just get the standard logo 5003d and enjoy !

Nathan

5003D all the way. The 500 SE is for a bigger badder power system IMO..........Ron

I have stratus 90 nitro as well as e stratus 12s both vbared , 2 l600 vbars 600 blades on 6s 35c hyperions, one on tango other hacker turbine 2250 headspeed on jives the logos have a much better power to weight ratio than the 90's, hence much more power! just match the right components so imop you can definately do it.
Only if you run more than 600 blades and higher than 2250 would the 6s setups be borderline. BTW you'll get approx 5mins 3d on 6s 5000-5500.

Common sense may not be common after all

It all depends on how you fly really.

I was running 2200 rpm with 600mm blades (sab "rd" ), scorpion 4025-1100, hyperion 6s 5500mah 35c, and jive 100LV.
4.5 minutes of flight time, 180+ amp peaks, great performance.

Swap 560mm rotortech blades on, go up one tooth to a 15 tooth pinion (2300rpm).
5.2 minutes flight time, 160 amp peaks, better than great performance
More "pop", more top speed, more flight time.
For hard 3d, 6s flies better on the smaller blades.

I can only guess that the lighter rotor disk loading of the 600mm blades becomes negated by the loss of the power required to turn them. A case of diminishing returns, if you will.
The 500 already has a light rotor disk loading on 560mm blades, further reducing the loading doesn't seem to entirely cover the extra drag the 600mm blades induce.
If 6s packs were available in 6500+ mah, to increase the power density of the pack, that would make 600mm blades alot more viable for hard 3d.
But then that's what 10s is for

The 500 does have a slightly more stable feeling on the 600mm blades though. And auto's have ridiculous hang time.
So for light to medium 3d or sport flying it's definitally an option.

Just my personal findings on the whole 6s pack+600mm blade subject.
The great thing about logos in the first place is that they can easily be setup to compliment the flying style of just about everybody

Regards,
Nathan

I agree.
If i were to build another logo for 3D flight i would run.
5003D 6s-8s
500se 8s-10s
6003d 10s-12s

I have setup and flown a 600DX on 6s with 600mm torsion`s and 550mm maniac`s.
Yeah it does fly on the 600mm but it just didnt have enough power for me (or the owner) we droped a set of 550mm mains on it and the heli came to life.
As Nathan has allready said, it depends on how you fly, if your happy to fly round smooth and gentle the 6s will work but if you want to start smashing the sticks around you will soon bog the RPM down.

f your happy to fly round smooth and gentle the 6s will work but
If you call 4pt t/tocs, rolling circles, piroloops etc flying around i guess you can take that stance but i think to answer the original question i can quote mr Mel and others who a while ago mentioned they prefer lower headspeeds for certain manouvres (if my memory serves me correctly between 2000-2100) I'm at 2250 on 6s and bogging is not an issue at all
Yes if you want a rocket fill it up, but for sure you'll have a fantastic flying machine for all 3d manouvres on 6s, so i say go 500se or 600 (if you feel power is lagging you can go 12s).
Keep in mind that it's not only about power but pwr/weight,the 6s in my l600 weighs only 3kg's all up with 5000mah lipo.
Also the fact that you fly 90's as well the bigger heli will be more visible and your aerobatics more 90 like.
Keep in mind mine is vbar so fbar may be different.

Common sense may not be common after all

It just felt underpowerd to me with a lack of pop.
Maybe it is my bad collective management but i did not like it.
