well, i tried to re-route the exhaust outlet to under the horizontal fin on my Nexus by running a piece of fuel tubing with the same ID as the OD of the muffler tailpipe. result was i couldn't open the throttle more than 50% before exhaust back-pressure in the line built up and bogged the engine.

I really would like to get the exhaust back about mid-boom though. what would be the simplest way of accomplishing this? should i just get a 1/2" ID line and run that straight back? Perhaps if i cut a series of slits in a line, the back-pressure wouldn't be a problem?

Any ideas?

even something as simple as a exhaust deflector causes back pressure.

I run my pipe as shipped they are tuned that way.

Use as large diameter tube as you can and experiment with the length (this is from what I have read)

I'd just clean up the mess and run the muffler the way it is. Those things just contribute to tail heaviness

It will only keep the oil off when flying forwards. It's till gonna get messy flying backwards. Besides you would need such a large diameter tube to not induce backpressure, it would prob look and feel awkward.
