Why not a nitro?

60% of the time, it works every time!

The Radikal G20 looks like a suitably-sized heli with a gasser engine. Century just released it. It spins 600-660mm blades, but won't break the bank in purchase costs.

gasser has more things like ignition coils that can go wrong, and you also have to run your electrical setup so that ignition wont interfere with anything (lots of EM interference around an ignition coil. Gassers are also far more expensive than, say, a .30 or .50 nitro.

however, gasoline costs far, far less than nitro, a gasser wont leave oily residue on everything withing a five mile radius, and flight times with gassers are much, much longer.

If i had the money to get one, i would buy a gasser because in the long run, it would pay for itself in fuel savings. however, gasser kits cost and arm and a leg, and a gasser engine will set you back the other arm.

gasser's dont have ignition gremlins like the OG's had a few years ago. the gasser will give long run times with very cheap fuel costs.
they dont fly like a nitro 90 but are still very cool. if you want a super stable easy to fly heli go gas. MA makes the best.

Ive been eyeing that Radikal20. Up till now most gassers swung 710 and larger blades making crash costs in the nitro 90 range. The Radikal is 50 size and crash costs should be comparable.

I'm loving my radical g20,flys like a 50 although it costs more then the average 50 but far less then the bigger gassers.and it actaully can do 3D as for interferenc with the ignition, the spark plug lead and cap are well sheilded and i have had no isssues, plus century addressed that with putting the receiver in the back and the ignition in the front.

Century heli rep. To much power is never enough.

Just be prepared for a BIG learning curve and a long time to get setup and going. I'm just getting my gasser flying close to i think the way it should and it's been a long road but i'm almost at the end. I would buy another in a heartbeat if i was not low on money and as soon as i get back straight i will but it will be another Spectra G by MinAir USA. You can get an easy 30 minute flight on one tank of gas and that would pay for itself over a short time. I would go with the 90 because you will have almost the same money in it as the 50 and a lot bigger heli. As long as you don't crash much it will be much better i think. Just make sure of one major thing Get BH Hanson to balance the motor first before you even go any furture. I learned the very hard way. I'm not trying to scare you i just want you to know some of what i had to learn the hard way. If you go to the gasser section there are a few guys on there that can help you out a great deal, and they don't mind helping one bit. Take my word for it you WILL need so help. It would be great if someone near you has a gasser that would make things and 100 times easier, but i had no one but these guys and they help me every step of the way. Like i said before i would like to thank everyone on the gasser forum for all the help they gave me. Good luck.

Thanks

only real learning will be set up and tuning of the engine, the bigger helis,600 and 700 fly very smooth compared to that blade and can be flown outdoors in the breeze.

my radical is my first gasser aswell but i didn't think it was that big of a jump from nitro's or eletric if anything i find it easier then nitro's the motor is a snap to tune and the new g20 motor has less vibs then my 50 nitro's, I don't know how anybody could balnce this motor better.I have no exspereince with the bigger motors though but this little 20 is a sweet heart with the electronic ignition it starts super easy and tunes super easy and is way cheaper then a spectra G,or a predator gasser and so are the parts.and if you whanted to the hd version could be setup for 690 blades, they are working on a longer boom and belt for scale applications and the stk boom is only an inch short of running 690 or 700's, and the canopy is already as big as most 90's.

Theres no way the motor is as smooth as a OS 50 unless it was balanced, or your the one in a million. Well just just buy what you like thats why they make so many different brands and sizes.

Spectra-G seems to have the most support available from other RR members. I really like mine next is a Radikal

Maybye i should go buy a lottery ticket I've been reading all these gasser post while waiting for mine and i was prepared for some vibs but was suprised at how smooth it was, somewhere early on in century's advertiseing there was something about it being super smooth.
I wonder if it's because it is a short stroke motor, i heard that it's a 231 with a shorter stroke.

I have been flying electrice and nitro helis for many years now and I purchased a Spectra G at the beginning of this year. There is definately a new learning curve however out of my whole fleet, the Spectra G would be the last one to go!!

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!
